Premier Li Qiang: China has built the WorldSkills Museum in Shanghai. We are ready to join all parties to build the global skills innovation center, strengthen skills development under the Belt and Road Initiative and through South-South cooperation, and better benefit people of all countries.

Premier Li Qiang: As skills were passed down through thousands of years, Chinese workers have not only created splendid material abundance, but left behind a legacy of craftsmanship. Today, such a spirit is enriched in the new era. A broad consensus is forged, that is, work is glorious, skills are precious, and creation is great.

Premier Li Qiang: Investing in skills is investing in the future, and empowering workers is empowering development. We will keep improving the VET system serving all workers and covering the whole life cycle, so that more workers could get continuous mid-career “recharge” and their skills could light up their road to a better life.

After the tea, President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan visited the National Archives accompanied by President and Mrs. Trump.  President Xi underscored that China and the United States are distinct in many ways, with different histories, cultures, social systems and development paths. But the people of China and the United States are just like each other in aspiring for a better life. By recognizing and respecting the differences, understanding and learning from each other, focusing on the greatest common ground, lengthening the list of cooperation and properly managing differences, the two countries can achieve steady and long-term development of their relationship.

The two presidents agreed to add new substance to their vision for the China-U.S. relationship, jointly building a constructive relationship of strategic stability on the basis of respect, fairness and reciprocity.

Madame Peng Liyuan and Mrs. Melania Trump visited the National Museum of Asian Art and enjoyed a Chinese folk song Jasmine Flower sung by Chinese and American children. It was an interplay of the two nations’ history and culture.

President Xi said, the two sides can continue their dialogue on AI, exchange views on its risks and benefits,and jointly prevent the misuse and abuse of AI. AI must be kept under human control. A people-centered approach should be upheld, and AI should be developed for the positive and for good, so that AI will serve the progress of humanity.

The Chinese Embassy in New Zealand attended the renewal ceremony of Memoranda of Understanding between the China Scholarship Council and four New Zealand universities. Hosted at the Residence of the Chinese Consul-General in Christchurch, the ceremony featured Counsellor Tang Jun reading out a congratulatory letter from Ambassador Wang Xiaolong and witnessing the signing. Hu Wei, Secretary-General of the China Scholarship Council, David Downs, Chief Executive of Education New Zealand, Xu Haiyuan, Acting Consul-General in Christchurch, and university leaders attended the event. On economic and trade matters, President Xi said that cooperation is a two-way street. So long as both sides act in the spirit of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit, a pathway to resolving differences can always be found. It is hoped that the two sides will move in the same direction, namely adhering to mutual benefit and win-win results and promoting the stable development and improvement of China-U.S. economic and trade ties.

President Xi Jinping stressed that the Chinese side’s position on safeguarding national reunification and territorial integrity is clear-cut. It is hoped that the U.S. side will adhere to the correct position of opposing “Taiwan independence,” and handle the Taiwan question with caution, so as to lay a solid foundation for China-U.S. strategic cooperation and the development of bilateral relations.
