pneumonic plague is nothing like COVID. it's a bacteria (yersinia pestis) that can be transmitted from person to person.
it's not something to mess with, but commonly available antibiotics (gentamicin IV/IM, doxycycline orally etc.) are highly effective and available.
we'll know more in the coming days about the containment (or lack thereof) of this Russian lab leak, but it's likely not something to worry about.

Finalize this. And stop the nonsense of "everybody keep right but give pedestrians right of way" on rail trails. Pedestrians should keep LEFT where wheeled vehicles are used, including bicycles. No way will I let fast moving vehicles approach from my back.

E-bikes and scooters should not be legal for anybody under 18. Younger kids dont have the maturity to operate them safely, on streets or trails. They are also getting fatter for lack of exercise. Miles long wheelies are unsafe and stupid.

I had forgotten about Gary Hart. Younger folks should look this up. Standards for politicians is in the rear view mirror, but consider that this scandal took place in 1988, a mere 38 years ago.
Does anyone else remember the good ol days when Gary Hart was dumped from a Presidential campaign because it came out he cheated on his wife?
I miss the days when we held our elected officals to higher standards. Hell, I would settle for ANY standards at this point.
