Didn't like the censorious Puritanism of the religious right, and I have no taste for it from the regressive left either.

The Japanese are not at all amused by the spoilt French brats dressing up as anime characters whilst they burn their cities down. Tonnes of posts like this. The French have resorted to responding that Japan is a country of paedophiles.

🚨Nick Shirley was on the ground in France and interviewed some of the rioters...Their answers will infuriate you. They are Antifa members, they blame Trump and regurgitate the same nonsensical leftist talking points. The enemy of humanity and society is leftists and Islamists. x.com/nickshirleyy/status/21…

And here is that brutal neoliberal austerity which wrecked a generation.
A nice old building burns, and so the pearl-clutching begins. Where were these pearl clutchers when austerity was wrecking a generation? Why does one town hall grab their attention but millions of schools, hospitals, and homes dilapidated by neoliberalism are of no importance?
Community note
France's level of public social spending was third highest in the world at 30.6% of GDP in 2024. Excluding the pandemic, it is slightly down from its 31.9% high in 2014. Total public spending is 57.2%, second highest among large countries not at war and near all-time highs. ourworldindata.org/grapher/social… ourworldindata.org/grapher/histor

Good point. Though I wouldn’t overplay the Islamist element in what happened in France. More a combination of hard left, largely white activists and gangs from the banlieue.
Replying to @afneil
Scarily close to what Houellebecq wrote a decade ago.

Pathetic, meaningless address from President Macron to the people of France tonight. The anger here is palpable. I have written what it all means in a column in tomorrow’s Daily Mail. L’agonie de la France is set to continue and Macron is now an irrelevance.
BREAKING: 'How can French people do this to France?' French President Emmanuel Macron has said the country is feeling 'anger and shame' over recent protests in the country. Calling for peace, the president said 'nothing' justifies the riots and damage caused in multiple cities.

Apparently not all immigrants’ opinions are welcomed in France. Just the ones who want to burn it down.
You don't even know where Limoges is, and couldn't find it without googling it. Stay in your damn lane.

Islamic terrorist who guarded Isis executions is spotted in a Co-op near Windsor Castle after being blocked from deportation Mohammed Yaseen, an Iraqi who served as a security guard during stonings, beheadings and mass executions that included children, was seen shopping close to the royal residence while living in a local bail hostel. He had served nearly five years in a German prison for Isis membership. A judge blocked his return to Iraq because of the risk he would face mistreatment or execution. He then reapplied to stay in Britain. A British court said he posed a danger to the whole of the UK because of his deeper and lengthy involvement in terrorism and Islamic extremist ideology. Chris Philp said taxpayers are paying to feed and house a clear threat and that he should be deported at once. Last night government sources said Yaseen was recalled to prison hours after the MoS contacted the Home Office about the case. A source at the Ministry of Justice said he was taken back to prison as he had apparently breached his 'good behaviour' requirement at the bail hostel. The source said: 'He is no longer in Windsor.'

Anyone who didn’t already inherently understand this should never have been let in in the first place.
As Muslims, we need to understand this. You can live in America or the UK, build mosques, raise a family and practise Islam freely. But that doesn't make Islam the national religion of those countries. Belonging to a country doesn’t mean the country belongs to your religion. Religious freedom is not religious ownership.

‼️Huge Update: No Further Action!! One tea towel comment. One year of @SurreyPolice hell. Someone started on me. I said their keffiyeh looked like a tea towel. That was the “crime.” Interviewed under caution. Case now CLOSED. Free speech is not illegal. This madness ends now.
