“… draw close to Jesus. Pray, fast, sing Godly music, read the Bible, do acts of service.”
Quickest way to feel better ⬆️
Good morning.
I understand that for some of you reading this, life has gotten so bad that your decision to wake up and participate in it was not an easy one. You may have even made plans for an early exit if it gets much worse.
I have been there and felt those emotions.
I wanted to share that a Gloria Gaither’s songwriting meant a great deal to me when I was in the deepest throes of depression.
“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future. And life is worth the living just because He lives.”
It’s all true; every word of it.
The song even mentions that we can hold a baby and know this child can face uncertain times just because Jesus is alive.
Why? Because somehow, some way, Jesus has this taken care of. When we instead think that we have to be in control, we fail miserably and suffer. We make ourselves God by demanding control over our situation, and then wonder why we feel so helpless and sad.
We can’t be God. We can’t possibly be in complete control all of the time. We need to let go and let God.
Life isn’t worth living because we humans are in complete control. This is a lie we tell ourselves. Life is worth living because Jesus died for our sins and knows the future.
We don’t magically have the power to survive the pain of life. We are ripped apart, traumatized, chewed up, and spit out. We can only gain the power to keep going by drawing close to God. He will draw close to us, and give us the strength to keep going.
So draw close to Jesus. Pray, fast, sing Godly music, read the Bible, do acts of service. You can’t do this alone, but you don’t need to. Let God give you the supernatural peace you need to keep going.
