Zelenskyy tonight calls what Trump earlier today claimed to be an agreement a “proposal”, confirming our @FT reporting that there is so far no deal between Ukraine and Russia — “There is currently a strong proposal from the United States regarding a mutual cessation of strikes on critical infrastructure. And if this can become the first de-escalation step – a step to stop Russian strikes on our critical infrastructure and our retaliatory strikes – then Ukraine is ready to support de-escalation.”
Zelenskyy continued in his evening address: “We see that the Russians are feeling tension due to our precision strikes on the Russian war economy. And so far, no one has seen a genuine desire from Russia to move towards ending the war. But if American partners manage to ensure Russia's real readiness to stop this war of annihilation and do so truthfully and in the long term, Ukraine will take its de-escalation steps.”
He added: “We are waiting for specifics from our partners.”

NEW: Trump got out in front of his skis when he announced Kyiv and Moscow had agreed to halt strikes on each other's energy facilities, appearing to announce a deal that caught Ukrainian officials off guard in the absence of credible Russian guarantees.
