Starting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 18, Hancock Expy. west of S. Academy Blvd. will close until noon on Oct. 3, for storm sewer installation. Use Astrozon Blvd. or Drennan Rd. for detours. The right lane of southbound S. Academy Blvd near Hancock Expy. will also close for crew machinery.

Culvert work at Wooten Rd and Galley Rd remains on schedule for completion this year. Wooten Rd south of Galley Rd remains closed. Follow the signed detour using Geiger Blvd and Babcock Rd.

Southbound Marksheffel Road reopened to through traffic at Stetson Hills Boulevard on Friday, Sept. 4th. All temporary traffic restrictions at the Stetson Hills Boulevard and Antelope Ridge Drive intersection have also been removed.

All City of Colorado Springs administrative offices are CLOSED Friday, Sept. 4 for a scheduled furlough day and Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day.

Starting at noon Monday, Aug. 24, through noon on Friday, Aug. 28, northbound South Academy Boulevard will be reduced to one lane between Astrozon Boulevard and Chelton Road for waterline work.

Bijou St. over Spring Creek to the east of Academy Blvd will have single lane closures from Aug. 24 until the beginning of Oct. as the City performs culvert maintenance. Access to homes will be maintained.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: Beginning Friday, Aug. 21, the median at Janitell Road and Circle Drive will close for the weekend for water line work. Drivers should follow posted signs and use the designated detour. Allow extra travel time and use caution near crews.

🚨 HAZMAT INCIDENT 🚨 7:30 p.m. The fire at Microchip remains active in a small, contained area of the building. Hazmat crews continue to enter the building to monitor the fire and assess conditions. At this time, crews cannot actively engage the fire because of the hazardous conditions inside the facility. The pre-evacuation warning remains in place. We know the community is looking for updates. We will continue to share confirmed information as it becomes available. Hazmat incidents can take longer to assess and resolve than a typical fire. Crews may need to carefully monitor hazardous materials, evaluate conditions inside the facility, determine the safest way to approach the area, and coordinate specialized resources before the next steps can be taken. Because conditions can change as crews enter and assess a facility, responders must proceed cautiously and prioritize the safety of crews and the surrounding community. We understand that waiting for information can be frustrating. Please know that crews continue to actively work the incident, and we will provide additional updates when confirmed information is available.
