The display is a clear sign of disrespect toward America. That attitude is another reason we shouldn’t give the EU a dime. Let them fend for themselves. The people in Europe who lecture America on dignity can’t manage basic respect for the president of the country that underwrites Europe’s safety. America pays for most of NATO’s defense. The alliance was built to protect Europe. Europe answered by branding the American president a plague and casting the American taxpayer as the man underneath the statue. That’s not a disagreement. That’s a breakup. Lee has said we should leave NATO before. I’ve said it too. He introduced a bill to start the withdrawal. Today he said it in four words after the statue went up. A partner that mocks you in its own parliament isn’t a partner. It’s a dependent that’s gotten way too comfortable assuming the check keeps coming. Save the money. Defend America. Let the EU fend for itself. They’ve made their position clear. Time to make ours. Time to leave NATO.
