The WNBA stands for the Women’s National Basketball Association, not the Women’s National Black Association. It belongs to every woman who earns her place on that court, regardless of race.
Let’s stop pretending that players like Caitlin Clark (CC) and Sophie Cunningham (SC) haven’t brought enormous attention and new fans to the league. Instead of celebrating that growth, some seem more interested in turning everything into a racial controversy.
Fans are sick of the constant race card accusations, the dirty plays, the overly physical basketball, and the lousy refereeing that allows too much of it to go unchecked. People want basketball, not endless drama, hostility, and excuses.
And here’s the reality: Players like CC and SC have the opportunity to build legacies far bigger than the bitterness and controversy surrounding this league. Success comes from talent, professionalism, character, and the ability to rise above the noise, not from complaining, playing dirty, or making everything about race.
