World Climate Declaration, signed by more than 2000 scientists and experts. Message: there is no climate emergency. Book: The Frozen Climate Views of the IPCC.

@RogerPielkeJr does not deny climate change. His research is cited by the IPCC and, in his own words, sits firmly within the scientific consensus. Yet he became one of the most controversial scholars in the climate debate. Why? Because his findings did not fit the preferred narrative. Rising disaster losses were largely explained by population growth, increasing wealth and more development in vulnerable areas – not automatically by worsening weather. In an extensive interview with Darren Samuelsohn of The love, journalism Show, Pielke explains how his criticism of attribution claims, outdated climate scenarios and politicised science made him a target – and ultimately the “Voldemort of climate science”.

🎥 Credits: @Electroversenet

Then why does the data show that global wildfire burn area, including from forest fires (not just Savannah grassland), have not increased since at least 2002? Why are you lying?
Today’s simple truth: climate change is making wildfires more frequent, more intense, and more destructive. We should all be able to agree on that.

Why is the West pursuing a Net Zero strategy that appears to strengthen its biggest industrial competitor? @JoanneNova examines the argument by Michael Doran and Brenda Shaffer. The logic is striking: the US and Europe restrict their own fossil-fuel production and increasingly rely on wind, solar, batteries, critical minerals and EVs — supply chains in which China holds dominant positions. Meanwhile, China keeps adding energy: coal, oil and gas alongside wind, solar and nuclear. Doran and Shaffer argue that the result is an extraordinary asymmetry: the West “subtracts” reliable domestic energy while China “adds” energy and industrial capacity — and sells the West much of the technology required for its transition. Nova asks the uncomfortable next question: given how much China benefits, how much influence does Beijing have on the Western Net Zero movement? Not proof of a grand conspiracy — but, she argues, a question worth investigating.

🎥 Credits: @Electroversenet

The flood in Nepal was a terrible disaster. Thousands have died or remain missing, and the country needs support. But should that support be framed as climate compensation? Angela Wheeler, executive director of the @CO2Coalition, argues that the likely immediate cause was a failure of rock beneath a glacier, while a specific contribution from industrial CO₂ emissions to this flood has not been demonstrated. In her opinion, Nepal would make a stronger appeal for help by asking for compassion, rather than demanding compensation from alleged “climate sinners”. She calls for modern technology and better land use to protect people from future disasters.

What if modest warming and rising CO₂ bring benefits that the climate debate too often overlooks? In a positive review of @GWrightstone’s 2023 book A Very Convenient Warming, Lipton Matthews explains why he finds its case persuasive. Drawing on geological records, historical warm and cold periods, crop yields and disaster data, Wrightstone argues that more CO₂ helps plants grow, that warmer periods have often benefited societies, and that the costs of Net Zero deserve closer scrutiny. Matthews praises the book’s accessible writing and extensive use of charts, while acknowledging that Wrightstone’s perspective shapes his choice of evidence. Wrightstone also spoke about the book at Clintel’s fifth anniversary conference in June 2024.

Azië bouwt. Europa sluit. 🎥 @Electroversenet

Roger Watson picked up his local Catholic diocesan newspaper after Mass and found an article warning readers against “gambling” with climate change. It invoked wildfires, floods, Net Zero and the Pope’s moral authority. Watson is unconvinced. He challenges the article’s claims and asks why Church leaders have embraced the language of climate activism so readily. Caring for creation is part of Christian stewardship, he argues—but has the Church become more concerned with saving the planet than saving souls?
