The family of Glasgow student Ethan Brown is demanding an FAI after he took his own life when he was told he had the wrong grades. It's understood the Lord Advocate is investigating if criminal action should be taken when it was discovered he got a 2:1. Lawyer @AamerAnwar.

Very sad indeed, but one cannot help thinking more was going on in that young persons life than just failing an exam in order to kill themselves.

It’s a shame But trying to blame the university is a disgrace - you get told the wrong grade there is a due process to follow. You don’t just check out on life

Awww here we go, always looking to blame someone. Parents should look at themselves and the pressure they put on him. Or the fact they missed the signs??

I don't think a simple administrative error should mean criminal prosecution even though the outcome is serious. They didn't cause his death, he did and his mental health must have been precarious before that point.

No disrespect, it doesn't really sound like he was mature enough for the world of work. Schools and parents are supposed to prepare kids for stressful situations and both seem to want diminished responsibility.

I’m sorry - what? He popped himself because he got a bad grade? Surely that isn’t real

Universities use fixed quality assurance processes that mean each student result, grade and ability to complete each stage of their course goes through at least 3 formal checks. Those checks involve module and programme staff, QA staff and external examiners from other Unis.

Imagine using your son's death to get a compy claim. Sick individual.

If he took his own life over grades i think he might have had a few other issues going on.

They got my son's exam results wrong too, and he was really upset. They corrected it very quickly thankfully but I can understand their pain. Kids are under so much pressure today.
