The very last update! π«Άπ€
One year ago today the doctor called with the numbers that flipped the script. Triglycerides at 950. βIf you donβt stop right now, start making your final arrangements.β I hung up, looked at my wife, and quit. Cold turkey. No cutting back. No waiting for a better day. When youβre ready, you just do it.
Stress has been the real test every single day β not some lack of willpower. But I kept swinging, one day at a time. Leaned on God, real support, and the decision to build something instead of burning it down.
Hereβs what 365 days delivered:
- Health I never thought Iβd see: Total cholesterol from 269 down to 192. Triglycerides from 978 crushed to 168. Clean liver and clear pipes after that blocked intestine hospital scare β double victory on the same day as my 10-month mark. Still standing tall.
- Homestead coming alive: Forest trails cleared by hand, full garden growing strong, front yard fenced solid for Gizmo π· and the dogs. Learning to graft, start seedlings, root cuttings. Supporting local nurseries and real skills over the easy button.
- Family back in full color: Clear head, real hugs that actually mean something, showing up present and affectionate like they deserve.
- Purpose and freedom: Hungry to learn, create, and live. I chose the garden, the trails, Gizmoβs happy grunts, and real life over the bottle and the endless scroll trap. Life feels ALIVE again.
I chose life and nature over destruction. America needs more men doing exactly this β sober, strong, building legacies instead of numbing out.
If youβre battling alcohol or any addiction right now: **You CAN do it.** Quit cold like me or slow and steady when the moment hits. Stress is the #1 trigger β recognize it and fight back. Distance what pulls you down until youβre solid. One day at a time. Youβre stronger than the pull.
God carried me through every dark valley straight into this light. Thank you Lord for the courage, the healing, the second chances, and every clear morning. π
