The Newark Police Division is asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of assaulting a woman in Newark, New Jersey, on September 18, 2026.
According to police, the victim was walking home from a bus stop around 1:30 a.m. after getting off work when she noticed a man watching and following her.
Police say that as she reached her apartment in the 200 block of Leslie Street, the suspect approached her from behind. When she turned around, he allegedly punched her repeatedly in the face and body while telling her to be quiet.
The victim fought back and screamed, prompting the suspect to flee, according to investigators.
Police describe the suspect as a Black male with locs, last seen wearing a black tank top and blue shorts.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the incident is asked to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Newark Police Division’s website. Anonymous Crime Stoppers tips are confidential and may qualify for a reward.

Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 7:00 a.m., Buena Park Police Detectives arrested 59 year-old, Moises Garcia,for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
Detectives served search warrants to obtain further evidence against Garcia. These warrants were served at his home and place of employment.
Garcia is a Paramount High School teacher.
Paramount High School has been made aware of the arrest. They are cooperating with the investigation currently.
