Interbank tokenized deposits are the regulated end of the same trend as stablecoins. Korea ran a similar deposit-token pilot under the BoK's Project Hangang. The open question is whether deposit tokens and public stablecoins can settle against each other.

A meaningful step from experimentation toward real payment infrastructure. Interoperability between banks will be key to making tokenized deposits useful at scale.

Completing live transfers is more informative than announcing a pilot. The next test is repeat usage across banks, reconciliation speed and whether transfers remain reliable outside traditional operating hours.

four major UK banks settling between each other on tokenized rails is a bigger infrastructure signal than any single pilot program

The remortgage use case sits on a rule with a number in it. FSCS cover applies to eligible deposits at the limit in force when a firm fails: 120,000 pounds since 1 December 2025, and up to 1.4 million on a temporary high balance from buying or selling a house.

Seeing four big banks actually do this is way more interesting than another pilot announcement

Tokenized deposits are moving from pilots into live customer transactions. Using them for remortgage completion shows how programmable settlement can simplify a real banking workflow.

Don't be shy… mention that it's $QNT (Quant network) that provides the technology and makes all of this possible.

You forgot to add with $QNT

Programmable money is getting real. The interesting part is what these rails can settle and finance next.

Four major UK banks completing interbank transfers onchain is a pretty big milestone for tokenized deposits.

four major banks testing the same rails matters more than another isolated pilot. interoperability is where tokenized deposits start becoming useful

Tokenized deposits still sit inside each bank's own liability, the interbank part is really about shared settlement rails, not a shared asset like a stablecoin would be

the irony of legacy banks moving faster on settlement than half the projects trying to reinvent the wheel is not lost on me

This is the part of tokenization that matters. Not another crypto experiment, but major banks moving deposits between institutions using blockchain infrastructure. If this scales, the bigger story isn’t “banks are using blockchain.” It’s that blockchain could become invisible infrastructure for global finance. What moves on-chain next..?

Good news. I’m with Lloyds.

The interesting part is the interoperability between multiple major banks. Tokenized deposits become much more useful when they can move seamlessly across institutions rather than operating in isolated systems.
