【Update】
Axiology originated from a 2022–2023 proof-of-concept project led by Ripple and Lithuania-based SUPER HOW? under the EU DLT Pilot framework. In Phase 0, shares of a private company were issued on a Private XRPL sidechain, while Phase 1 envisioned using CBDCs or stablecoins as settlement assets. In other words, the project was designed from the outset around a private XRPL-based network rather than the public XRP Ledger mainnet.
The research PoC later evolved into Axiology, an independent and licensed DLT Trading and Settlement System (DLT TSS), providing a regulated, permissioned environment for securities issuance, custody, secondary-market trading, and settlement. In July 2026, Axiology became a validator on the Canton Network, expanding its connectivity to institutional finance. With Pontes, which went live on September 21, Axiology can keep the securities leg on its own DLT while synchronizing the cash leg with central bank money.
In short, Axiology originated from a Ripple × SUPER HOW? Private XRPL sidechain PoC, but today its core is an independent, regulated securities market infrastructure. Canton and Pontes did not replace Axiology; they were added later as institutional and central-bank settlement rails connected to it.
