The round could value the ChatGPT maker at over $1.4 trillion
OpenAI is trying to lock in investor commitments for a round of about $30 billion before Anthropic's expected public debut in mid-November, per Reuters.
SoftBank, Abu Dhabi's MGX and other existing backers are in talks to join.
People familiar with the matter told Reuters the rush is partly about getting ahead of Anthropic, since both companies are pitching a similar group of investors.
OpenAI is telling investors it has reached $50 billion in annualized revenue and expects $70 billion by year-end.
It was last valued at $852 billion in March. Its own IPO is planned for 2027.
