it's been a year since I first came across @bulktrade, and what hooked me back then were these raw words from Jun's substack: "... After months of research and talking to different teams about their design principles, I realized no one's really building for a market so big that it deserves blood, sweat, and obsession to pull it off. So what the fuck are we building? Enough of this bish bosh." and the Bulk team lives up to it. it's an insatiable machine that runs 24/7: quants who've designed fixed income systems at Lehman and Japan's first electronic bond exchange, alongside PhDs in distributed systems. traders making an exchange for traders. It's only my first week, but I already know nothing can shake my belief in where we're heading. becoming the fastest exchange by any measure is just the first step. onwards and upwards.
BULK is one of the fastest growing derivatives exchanges A 8% compounded daily growth, on avg $350k in net OI added per day since launch Global derivatives represent roughly $1 quadrillion in outstanding notional. At $100B+ in open interest, perps represent only around 0.01% of that scale In the last few months Perps have already demonstrated substantial demand and price discovery during non trading hours. As more of traditional finance catches on to perpetuals, I believe capturing more than 10% of the broader derivatives market over the next few years is possible But to get there, we (onchain) need the risk infrastructure that tradfi has spent decades developing: that allows institutions to manage complex portfolios. SPAN is part of that history. Used since 1988 across exchanges and clearing orgs worldwide, it puts portfolio risk and eligible hedge offsets at the centre of margining Cme's portfolio-margining programme alone averaged $8.4B in daily margin savings during 2025, with savings exceeding $10B per day at the beginning of 2026 That is billions of dollars in lower collateral requirements through better portfolio risk management In the next few years, there wont be a distinction between trad and defi. But if we want to make that happen, we have to do better We, as a industry should offer the beautiful features of blockchain to risk infrastructure built through decades That is the direction we believe onchain derivatives should take to grow: recognise useful hedges, charge for the risk that remains, and account for what it would cost to close positions under stress. Ultimately, that means helping traders use their capital more efficiently BULK brings that portfolio-risk philosophy onchain through its own margin model. A long BTC / short SOL portfolio can receive margin credit because the positions partially offset. The credit depends on sizing, correlations and risk conditions, while leverage constraints and closeout reserves remain in place We are so early, To bring the world of derivatives onchain, we need to learn, adapt and build a better system For us at BULK, the job is clear: build and share the best risk systems onchain, and shove it down tradfi's throat Over time, we want to bring that same margining philosophy to a broader set of instruments: swaps, forwards, options and other OTC derivatives, alongside interest-rate and FX futures and options Accelerating, tick by tick.

The microstructure @bulktrade has created is the real edge. 1.Oracle: All pairs update atomically, so there’s no leg risk. Your hedge is never priced with one side fresh and the other stale. 2.Liquidation: It runs at the portfolio level and preserves hedges, so there’s less forced selling and far less risk of one liquidation cascading into the next.
The margin requirement for these positions on any other onchain venue today is over $10,500 BULK requires just $3,600. Almost 70% savings! That is money back in your pocket simply by choosing the right venue @bulktrade will lead the margin efficiency meta

New chapter: I'm now leading Trading Relations at @BulkTrade. Onchain perps have always made traders pick one: speed, execution quality or capital efficiency. Bulk solves this trilemma: 5–20ms matching and propagation, fair ordering, and state-of-the-art portfolio margining inspired by gold-standard CME SPAN, all running on leaderless consensus. Proud to be building with founders @kdotcrypto and @junbug_sol and the cracked growth team: @hotlneblng_, @CoryLoo and @glowburger. My job is simple: make Bulk's trading experience the industry standard, bring the best traders here and give them every reason to stay. Kingmaking starts today. gBULK

Testnet upgrade: ALO_SLIDE and ALO_JOIN are available We’ve added two post-only limit-order modes for testing: > ALO_SLIDE - If your limit would cross the opposite best price, it adjusts to the closest non-crossing price on the market’s tick grid. > ALO_JOIN - If your limit would cross, a buy joins the best bid and a sell joins the best ask. If that same-side quote is absent, it falls back to SLIDE. For example, with 99.00 bid / 101.00 ask and a 0.01 tick, a buy submitted at 105.00 would work at 100.99 with SLIDE or 99.00 with JOIN, subject to normal validation. Non-crossing orders keep their submitted price. The adjustment happens once on entry - resting orders do not continuously follow the BBO. Both remain post-only; ordinary balance, size and risk checks still apply. Integration and signing - Send "tif":"ALO_SLIDE" or "tif":"ALO_JOIN" in your limit action. - Use Testnet signing domain 2. - Set the TIF and submitted limit price before signing. Sign the original request, not the server-adjusted working price. - Custom binary signers: transaction TIF values are 3 for SLIDE and 4 for JOIN, encoded as little-endian u32. - Update closed TIF enums in your request encoder and /exchangeInfo decoder. - Order/account updates use postOnlySlide and postOnlyJoin. Testnet state was refreshed, so recheck your account, funding and open-order state. If you have any feedback - open a ticket on discord!

BULK Mainnet Scheduled Upgrade - Sunday, September 20, 2026 Maintenance schedule - UTC 12:00–13:00 - Scheduled downtime. Trading will be unavailable; API and WebSocket connections will be interrupted. 13:00–13:30 - Markets reopen in post-only / reduce-only mode. Post-only orders or orders that reduce existing positions will be permitted. 13:30 - Normal trading is scheduled to resume, subject to final checks. ALO / POST ONLY orders will be cleared during the upgrade. All GTC and conditionals remain untouched. Clearing orders does not close existing positions! What’s changing: - L2 market-data improvements: updated initial subscription snapshots and filtering of stale deltas already covered by the snapshot, improving order-book reconstruction on connection and resubscription. - Order lifecycle fixes: improved place/cancel response tracking and cleanup of executed isolated conditional orders. - Execution safeguards: improved error handling and execution-budget refresh after collateral transfers. - Conditional-order integrations: builder-code support and associated signing updates. - API improvements: clearer maintenance responses, trusted-proxy rate-limit handling, and corrected daily statistics/open-interest reporting. No breaking change in normal - market & limit orders is expected, but a change in format for orders carrying builder codes will change. And the new format will be published post upgrade. Happy trading and gBULK!

btw.... "0% fees" is the most misleading marketing gimmick in perp trading!!! Think of an airport currency booth with a big "NO COMMISSION!" sign. They'll buy your dollars at 0.90 euros and sell them at 1.10. That gap is how they make money. No commission = technically true! Perp DEXes work the same way. Every market has an order book: prices where people will buy (bids) and prices where people will sell (asks). The gap between them = spread. When you place a market order, you don't get the mid price you see on the chart. Buying? You pay the lowest ask. Selling? You get the highest bid. Example: BTC shows $100,000 on the chart. Best bid $99,990, best ask $100,010. You market-buy at $100,010. Sell one second later and you get $99,990. You just lost $20 and the price never moved. That was the spread, and you paid it on a "zero fee" exchange. Compare two venues: Venue A: 0% fees, $20 spread Venue B: $2 fee, $2 spread The "free" one costs 5x more. And it gets worse with size. The best ask only covers a limited amount, so big orders eat through the book level by level, and your average fill price gets worse each step. That's slippage, and it depends on depth: how much liquidity sits near the mid. Thin books show tight spreads that vanish the moment you trade real size. True cost of trading = fees + spread + slippage.
