$XRP RUMOR CHECK
BlackRock is supposedly filing for a spot
$XRP ETF tomorrow. Again. There’s still no filing.
Spot
$XRP ETFs already exist. BlackRock’s crypto ETF lineup is still Bitcoin and Ethereum, and there’s no new BlackRock
$XRP registration in the public record. Somebody saying it could happen tomorrow doesn’t make tomorrow a filing date. We’ve checked versions of this rumor before. Until the paperwork shows up, there’s nothing new here.
What is new is Bitget. The exchange says unauthorized transfers hit some of its hot wallets Sept. 24, with about $351.6 million affected. About 103 million
$XRP, worth about $157 million at the time, was the largest asset taken. Bitget says its cold wallets weren’t affected and withdrawals were paused. This was an exchange hot wallet getting hit. XRPL wasn’t hacked, and 103 million
$XRP leaving Bitget doesn’t mean
$XRP holders dumped 103 million tokens.
The D’CENT situation has gotten bigger since we first checked it. About 11.7 million
$XRP has now been traced leaving 6,678 wallets between Sept. 15 and Sept. 20. The transactions were validly signed, and D’CENT has tied the affected accounts to its App Wallet. Hardware wallets are a different story unless the recovery phrase was also entered into the app. Calling this an XRPL hack is wrong. The ledger did exactly what those valid signatures told it to do. The keys were compromised.
Binance is also being tied to an $800,000
$XRP rewards campaign for RLUSD holders starting Sept. 25. Reports say the rewards will be paid over four weeks, but I want to see Binance’s own campaign terms before treating every number being copied around as final. Either way, an exchange giving
$XRP rewards to RLUSD holders isn’t new
$XRP being created, and it doesn’t automatically make this some new Ripple partnership.
The 1.54 billion
$XRP whale buy is still getting posted too. We already checked it. Large wallet balances changed. Nobody produced a list of purchases proving institutions bought 1.54 billion
$XRP in 96 hours. Posting the same chart again doesn’t change that.
Same thing with the ETF inflows. U.S. spot
$XRP ETFs are already trading. Money flowing into existing funds isn’t another ETF approval, and it sure as shit doesn’t mean BlackRock entered the market.
BatchV1_1 is still on the clock. It crossed 80% validator support and remains inside its 14 day activation window. If support holds, it’s projected to activate around Sept. 29. It isn’t live yet. We’ve been following this one, so there’s nothing to add until it activates or something changes with validator support.
Bitget had an exchange hot wallet security incident. D’CENT had an App Wallet key compromise. Neither one means XRPL was hacked. Batch is still counting down, and BlackRock still hasn’t filed. That’s where everything stands tonight.
