Albanese embarrassed herself with her comments (though does deserve respect for admitting her error and ignorance). That said, complaints about the "de-judaization" of Nazi genocide are ridiculous. The Nazi Holocaust is the one genocide that regular people know some facts about, and Holocaust education - often of a dismal, Zionist-oriented quality - is a commonplace in Western middle schools and high schools.
In fact, what people are ignorant about is Nazi genocide of other peoples. In other words, we don't have a problem of "de-judaization" of Nazi genocide, but a problem of only focusing on the extermination of the Jews, while ignoring the genocides of Poles, Russians, Belarusians, Ukrainians, and Roma/Sinta by the Nazis.
Most people know about Anne Frank. But how many people know about Czeslawa Kwoka, a Polish Christian girl ethnically cleansed from Zamosc sent to Auschwitz and eventually murdered, most likely by lethal injection? She and other Polish children were sent to Auschwitz, by the way, because they failed a crackpot "race test" devised by the SS.
