Ten cars were found shot up and fourty-six spent shell casings were recovered after a shooting on 14th Street NW in Columbia Heights/Washington DC over the weekend. There was so much evidence that Forensic Services had to be called out again yesterday to recover more of it. An adult male was shot & taken to the hospital in stable condition, while the search remains ongoing for the shootee… #DCCrime

ADAMS MORGAN TRIPLE SHOOTING: On Friday, September 18, 2026 at approximately 12:53 a.m. Third District officers responded to the 2400 block of 16th Street, Northwest for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival three adult male victims were located conscious and breathing suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Two people have been shot outside of the Georgia Ave-Petworth metro station at New Hampshire Ave and Georgia Ave NW in Washington DC 🔫 The two adult males who were shot have been taken to the hospital, last reported still conscious. The gunman remains at large and is described as a black male, 5’8”, slim build, and is wearing a navy blue hoodie and black pants, per DC Police. Witnesses outside of the metro describe hearing several gunshot and having to duck for cover. Police are focusing their scene around a moped that is lying in the middle of the road and a parked white car. #DCCrime

Today, we remember the tragic events of the Navy Yard shooting, which occurred on this day in 2013. We honor the 12 innocent lives lost and the bravery of the first responders who risked their own safety to protect others. We continue to stand with the survivors and families affected by this tragedy.

Security and privacy are fundamental rights for our residents -- we must always balance the dual important duties of our government to protect the public’s safety and to safeguard our civil liberties. Camera technology, when used properly, can be a useful tool to assist law enforcement in locating stolen vehicles, suspects in violent crimes, and missing persons, but all technology must be used in accordance with strict policies that prevent misuse. Flock Safety cameras have been under contract with MPD since December 2024 as a tool in their efforts to drive down crime and work across the region collaboratively. As Chairwoman of the Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety, I have continued to question MPD about its use of Flock cameras during public hearings and through ongoing oversight and conversations to ensure proper use. However, in light of recent public concerns regarding the use of Flock cameras in DC, I am again seeking answers in writing from MPD about its Flock camera policies and how it has been used in investigations to date. The public deserves transparency and must understand how this technology is being used in our communities. Four people have been shot (to include a juvenile) during a probable homicide shooting on the 6200 block of Dix Street NE IN Washington DC 🚨 DC police were called out for the shooting just before 1:45pm this afternoon and arrived to find three adult males and a juvenile male having been shot. One of the adult males has been taken to the hospital in traumatic cardiac arrest. Another adult male victim was flown by US Park Police’s EAGLE 🚁 to a trauma center. The other adult male and juvenile male were taken to the hospital, last reported conscious. Police are looking for a silver Honda Accord, MPD’s FALCON 🚁 assisted with a search. #DCCrime

Interesting: a van of National Guardsmen was driving by when the shooting at 15th & Columbia occurred Thursday night...chased the suspect & pointed MPD to his hiding space to make the arrest. The 18 y/o suspect is apparently shacking up with someone at The Mayfair and got into an argument over money with the victim (who refused to cooperate). Judge held the suspect in jail.

Vandalizing our World War II Memorial is a despicable attack on a sacred monument honoring the Americans who fought and died for our freedom. Those Americans include my father and grandfather. This morning, we are filing two felony charges, Depredation Against Property of the United States and Destruction of Veterans' Memorials, in Federal District Court against Melissa L. Farris, offenses that carry penalties of up to ten years in prison. She is now in custody.

LOGAN CIRCLE ROBBERY & SHOOTING: Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect in a July 26 robbery and nonfatal shooting in the 1600 block of 12th Street NW. Police say the suspect offered the victim a ride, then pulled a gun, demanded the victim’s property and shot him before fleeing. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Prosecutions of felons in possession of firearms in D.C. are up 150% above the 20-year average. We hold accountable those who are already prohibited by law from possessing firearms, make those charges stick, and keep those weapons out of the hands of dangerous offenders.
