Only if the radical Islamists running Iran get their way,
@RepJeffries.
I know reading isn't your strong suit, so let me walk you through it slowly.
On September 29, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a designated terrorist organization, published a 26-page letter to the American people. It told us we could "change the makeup of the government" this November. Trump isn't on the ballot this year. The only way to "change the makeup of the government" in 2026 is to change who runs Congress. There are two parties on that ballot.
The IRGC can count to two. So can I.
Five days later, the Democratic leader of the House posts that "regime change is coming to the United States Congress."
Hakeem. Buddy. When a terrorist army that chants "Death to America" is writing your campaign material for free, maybe don't use the phrase "regime change" the same week. When terrorists are your biggest cheerleaders, there's a problem with your party, not with the voters.
You're a turkey cheering for Thanksgiving, Congressman.
And "regime change"? Of all the words in the English language, you picked the one that describes what happened in Iran in 1979.
Let me tell you how that went. Because spoiler alert: it did not end well for the liberals.
When the Shah fell, it wasn't just the Ayatollah's followers in the streets. Leftists, communists, secular liberals, students, and nationalists all marched right alongside the Islamists. They thought they were the ones steering. They thought once the Shah was gone, they'd get their progressive paradise.
Then Khomeini took power. And one by one, the regime came for its own allies. The communist Tudeh Party was banned and its leaders were arrested. The liberals were pushed out. In 1988, the regime executed thousands of political prisoners, including a whole lot of the same leftists who helped put the Ayatollah in charge.
They really were turkeys voting for Thanksgiving. And Thanksgiving came.
So when the Democratic leader of the House says "regime change is coming" in the same week Iran's terrorist army asks Americans to flip Congress, forgive me if I don't throw a parade. It's almost like you want what happened to Iran to happen here. And we already know how that story ends for the people who thought they were holding the leash.
Now let me be personal for a second, because this isn't a game to me.
I was an Army medic in Iraq. Iran's militias blew up my vehicle with me sitting in it. They hurt my gunner. So when Iran's Revolutionary Guard writes a letter about who should run my Congress, and you post a slogan that sounds like you're reading off their homework, I'm not going to smile and nod.
Nobody hurts my gunner and then gets a say in my government. Not them. And not anybody who's happy to have them on the team.
Now. "In just 30 days."
Hakeem, you're the leader of House Democrats. You've been in Congress since 2013. And you still don't know when Congress starts?
The election is in about 30 days. November 3. That's when people VOTE. The new Congress, the 120th, doesn't start until noon on January 3, 2027. That's the 20th Amendment. Section 1. It's been in the Constitution since 1933.
That's not 30 days. That's three months.
I teach high school. If one of my students mixed up "election day" and "the day Congress starts," I'd send him back to the textbook. You're the minority leader of the House of Representatives, and you can't read a calendar. You're a calendar that can't count past the first page, Congressman.
And it's not "regime change," either. We're a constitutional republic. When voters elect new representatives, that's called an ELECTION. A regime change is what happens when a government gets overthrown. Iran had a regime change in 1979. America has elections. The fact that the House Democratic leader can't tell the difference between the two should scare every voter in this country.
Your civics knowledge is a party balloon three days after the party. Still hanging around. Barely floating. Nobody remembers why it was there.
And you, of all people, should be careful when you start talking about who's legitimate and who isn't. You spent years after 2016 calling the president "illegitimate." You were an election denier before election denying was cool. Now you want to talk about "regime change" like it's a campaign slogan.
That's Quinn's Law Number Two, Hakeem: if you want to know what liberals are up to, watch what they accuse conservatives of doing. For years we were told foreign powers picking sides in American elections was a five-alarm emergency. Russia, Russia, Russia. Now a foreign terrorist army picks YOUR side, in writing, 26 pages long, and you respond with "regime change is coming."
Same foreign interference. Different jersey. Suddenly it's not an emergency anymore.
So here's the one question I'd ask you, Congressman. It's the easiest layup in American politics.
Do you reject the IRGC's support?
Yes or no. No pivot. No "both sides." No speech about Trump. Just yes or no. Because the pivot IS the answer.
Until then, you're a used car salesman trying to sell the same lemon twice. You're a phone book in a smartphone world. You're a deflated bounce house at a birthday party nobody came to. You're a smoke signal in a fog bank, Hakeem. Lots of effort, nobody can read what you're saying, and the only people who answered were in Tehran.
And to every voter reading this: you don't have to love your Republican candidate. In November, you're hiring a vote, not a best friend. But when a terrorist army writes you a letter asking you to change who runs Congress, and the Democratic leader answers with "regime change is coming"...
Maybe do the other thing.
But what do I know? I'm only a medic who already got blown up by Iran's militias once, and a teacher who knows the difference between election day, the 20th Amendment, and a regime change, which is apparently three more things than the House Democratic leader knows.
