Polygon Realm is getting a lot more attention lately so I wanted to understand what is actually happening. 👀 I’ve been seeing more posts, more activity, more upgrades and more discussion around STEPN on Polygon, especially from players who normally spend most of their time on Solana. So instead of just saying “Polygon is cooking”, I looked at the numbers and recent activity. A few things stood out: ⚡ pGST activity has clearly increased Average pGST transfers rose from roughly 100/day in late June to more than 200/day in August, with the final week of August reaching around 290/day. 📈 pGST also moved strongly over the last month At the latest snapshot, pGST was up around 44% over 30 days, although it had already cooled by about 16% over 7 days. 👟 Polygon sneakers are much more expensive than Solana At the snapshot: • Polygon Common floor: ~8,000 GMT • Solana Common floor: ~719 GMT And the gap gets even larger in some higher rarities. But there’s an important reason for that: 📉 Polygon is a much thinner market Across the main sneaker categories, Polygon had roughly 289 visible listings compared with more than 8,500 on Solana. That means floor prices can move much faster when only a relatively small number of listings are available. 💎 Gems show the same pattern. Efficiency and Luck gems on Polygon can be many times more expensive than their Solana equivalents, while some higher-level categories have very little or no visible supply at all. There’s also been some real community activity behind the numbers. Several long-term STEPN users have been experimenting with Polygon again: • buying higher-level sneakers • upgrading gems • opening Mystery Boxes • minting • testing different setups Recent #STEPNEMBER5 activity and Polygon-specific rewards probably helped push some of that activity too. But I think this is the part worth keeping in mind: Higher prices do not automatically mean better returns. Polygon currently has: • much higher entry costs • thinner liquidity • fewer available assets • more volatile floors So while Polygon definitely looks more active and interesting right now, I wouldn’t describe it as simply “better” than Solana. For me, the interesting part is that something is clearly happening there and it’s worth understanding why. Part 6 - My take after looking at Polygon from all these angles 👟 When I started this series, the question was pretty simple: Why is Polygon suddenly getting so much attention? After looking at the market, comparing it with Solana, checking real setup costs and reading what actual players are doing, I think the answer is more nuanced than “Polygon is booming.” There is clearly real activity there. pGST has been stronger than sGST recently. Players are upgrading gems, opening Mystery Boxes, minting, building Energy and experimenting with different setups. But Polygon is also a very different market. The visible sneaker supply is much smaller. Exact setups can be difficult to find. Gems and sneakers can cost many times more than their Solana equivalents. And a high floor does not automatically mean strong liquidity or better returns. That was probably the biggest thing I took away from this research. Polygon looks interesting partly because it is small. In a thinner market: • individual listings matter more • progression can feel more noticeable • community activity can have more visibility • prices can move faster in both directions And when I looked at actual users, I didn’t really see a mass “Solana → Polygon migration.” What I saw more often was: • existing Polygon users continuing to build • multi-realm players adding Polygon alongside Solana • people chasing Energy or equipment goals • players enjoying Mystery Boxes, minting and upgrades • a smaller community creating its own momentum That makes much more sense to me than simply saying one realm is better than another. Would I say Polygon is the obvious choice for every STEPN player? No. If your priority is: • low entry cost • lots of marketplace choice • simple single-realm management • predictable outcomes Solana probably remains much easier to work with. But if you already have Polygon assets, enjoy multi-realm play, like progression and experimentation, or simply want something different to build toward, I can understand why Polygon is getting more attention. So my final takeaway from this series is pretty much the same idea I started with: Polygon is worth understanding right now and not blindly chasing. Interesting doesn’t automatically mean better. Different can be interesting enough. That’s my view after looking at the numbers and the community behind them. What’s yours?
