🇲🇽 A fire broke out at the main entrance of the Jalisco State Congress in Guadalajara after a large protest demanding clean drinking water turned violent.
Masked, black-clad individuals infiltrated an otherwise peaceful march and attacked government buildings. They threw Molotov cocktails, firecrackers, and explosives at the wooden doors and arches of the congress, starting a fire and sending thick black smoke into the air.
They also hit the nearby Government Palace, setting fire to and tearing down its main door, and the State Judiciary building. Graffiti was sprayed and windows smashed across the complex.
Thousands marched for a second Sunday against contaminated tap water, scarcity, and privatization. Signs read “Más agua, menos Mundial” - “More water, less World Cup,” criticizing state spending as Guadalajara prepares to host 2026 World Cup matches.
