Introducing Trellis a UI framework for zoomable recursive zoomable layouts for web. The response to my demo video was so overwhelmingly positive, so I spent the past few days wrapping it up as a web framework you can use in your own projects. TrellisUI.com

Is it Open source? It's source-available under a three-tier license. Non-commercial use is free, otherwise it's through github sponsorship Why? because I want anyone to be able to use it, but I also want to justify continued support for it. This was a good middle ground.

Trellis is the successor to react-dockable, my other UI framework I've used on many of my own projects over the years. You can read more about migrating here: trellisui.com/docs/migrating…

It is true that the quality of our code reviews have gone up dramatically since AI. Before it was a lot of surface level convention issues and "lgtm" - now we have better attention to higher order issues
It'll soon be seen as deeply irresponsible to have critical code reviewed by human eyes alone.

we've truly hit a critical point in software development where vibe coding isn't just for laughs anymore and everyone is reconciling that fact simultaneously. It's hard to imagine how this shakes out in a year from now.
This was the moment I stopped looking at the code at all. I was having a conversation with a co-worker to add the ability to use Remix to a thing he had built and he said "agents don't need frontend libraries anymore". Meanwhile his product was using a backend framework. I thought he was ridiculous, ofc we still need frontend libraries if we need backend libraries--in fact, I find agents are sufficient at backend stuff w/o abstractions! And then it hit me. He and I were the same, just inverted. We believed agents were sufficient for everything we didn't have deep expertise in. I started noticing this pattern with almost every developer around me. I thought about it all the time. I kept wondering which way to go: Does this mean agents aren't good enough at anything? Or are they good enough at everything?! I went with "good enough at everything" and stopped looking at the code, stopped reviewing it directly (asked agents about PRs, how they worked, etc., but I didn't look at the code) Funemployed now, I don't even use a coding environment, I do it all from my dang phone. Teams should probably replace their coding agent editors with a slack channel run by an agent. But the farther we go in this new world the more I question that we'll even be "creating software" at all.

Every day I swing from feeling elation that things I wanted to exist for years can be manifested so quickly to the utter depression of realizing that the ideas are work exactly what I put in. The moat used to be execution. ideas were protected by it. Now its cheap.

The other day I posted a prototype of something I've had in my head for years. never had the time for it. I made it exist. I worked a lot on what I love - the UX and polish. I was so excited to see how much people loved it. Followed by a swarm of efforts to clone it in minutes

Switching to engineering full-time has really opened my eyes to the reality of big software. It's not elegant, and quite the mess. Implementing of the "correct" architecture isn't as valuable as the evolving pursuit of it. and that's... fine.

the C engine is finally ready for prime time, it's name is Kaigen. in the next few days I'll start posting more demos, and re-posting old demos, with playable links and intake forms for a closed beta. if you're a professional game or 3D app developer who wants to give your users the smoothest possible experience, on *every* platform. DM me.
just finished my ECS system in C and it turns out it's ~17x faster than @unity DOTS on the web that's 100k boids at ~90 FPS instead of 17 FPS sharing the code and link for this demo soon, details below 🧵

I've been saying it for years now, but it's no longer a prediction Rive is the next "flash" for making games
Replying to @rive_app
Here's a look at the twin-stick game @HelloJcToon and I are building. All 100% Rive using GPU Canvas and our joystick input. Runs on web, desktop, SteamDeck, iOS/Android, and another handheld console.

I can’t imagine a more incendiary think to post haha
What if AI could help bring the golden age of 2D animation back to cinemas? I brought this incredible pencil test by legendary Disney animator #MiltKahl for Pinocchio to life using AI. There’s something really special about seeing these rough drawings come alive with a 3D look. And I think that’s where AI could become genuinely useful for animation: letting animators focus more on acting, timing, and motion instead of polishing every tiny detail, like the eyes or nose, as you can see in the rough pencil test used here. AI won’t replace 2D animation. It could help bring it back to the big screen (or Netflix). #Seedance #Dreamina

Having a lot of fun with this silly engine thingie, mostly because it's minimal and it lets me experiment quickly with game ideas — this one is a very simple metroidvania toolset
put together a smol toy game engine with @pmndrs glyph, koota, typegpu and Effect.
