One of the hosts of DC’s official podcast is going viral for what he said about Lanterns critics. Coy Jandreau, who co-hosts DC Studios Showcase: The Official Podcast, went off during a Reel Rejects discussion about the backlash to the finale. “They can choke on their own tongues, dude.” Then he went further: “They’re not worth living and we’re overpopulated.” Jandreau also called people online “embarrassments to carbon” and said there are “a lot of people that just shouldn’t… be.” At another point, he joked about whether he would save someone from drowning if he thought they were an idiot. "Maybe." The comments came while he and Greg Alba were responding to people attacking Alba over his take on Hal Jordan and the Lanterns finale. The clip is now spreading across X, with one viral post asking whether an official DC podcast host just said he wants Lanterns trolls dead. This comes while the Lanterns backlash is still rolling, the show has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes fan score of any James Gunn DC project, and Clayface is already facing boycott calls. Comic writers have sidelined Hal Jordan for decades, making this frustrating finale nothing new. People forget his history of being disrespected, mischaracterized, and constantly replaced whenever DC reboots. While the backlash is totally justified, this ending is just par for the course. It sucks, but it’s exactly what DC always does to him. His fans shouldn't be surprised and I bet they would say Hal deserves better, but it is what it is.

Why did they even write this scene? Guy literally helped Jon get the ring and did nothing to provoke him yet this is written like an epic own that the whole season was building up for😭 “Gardner finally gets humbled by Jon!!!” Like Guy isn’t objectively a better green lantern

The longer I sit with the Lanterns series finale, the more it angers me. So Hal Jordan goes to Rushville to confront a mass murdering alien, who is being harbored and protected by everyone in town, notwithstanding the fact that her whole plan of self defense is to burn down the town around her and make Hal use up the ring so she can kill him too. She proceeds to execute this plan, and in spite of this, the townspeople actually try to help her escape, and in the process some of them are killed. In other words, Hal succeeds at his extremely justified mission and has to go to prison for ten years and we are supposed to feel this was appropriate. Kerry shoots Hal in the face because she doesn’t like something he said in an argument and the most by-the-book character in the whole series is like, “nah, you don’t even need to explain yourself to a jury. We are all good here.” And we are supposed to feel good about this? It’s absolutely ludicrous.

Everything I learn about Lanterns makes me wonder why they keep hiring writers that hold comics and superheroes in nothing but contempt, and seem to sniff their own farts and think their melodrama slop is above these legacy characters and stories people love

Lanterns did an amazing job in capturing everyone's favorite Green Lantern comic! You remember! The one where the random female sheriff from a small town shoots and kills Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern!

My final review of LANTERNS: Everyone knows that I love Green Lantern and approached this project as a viewer with enthusiasm and credulity. I am not a reactionary bigot. My bigotry emerges slow and deliberately as all of the evidence slithers in. And at that point, could it be called bigotry? I dare say not. I loved watching LANTERNS. I am not going to knock off points for it not being precisely what I would expect from a Green Lantern show. I’m not going to attack it’s budgetary constraints and limits. I’m game for whatever these folks are capable of putting on. I watched carefully, week after week, enjoying guessing at the mystery. Listening closely to dialogue and gleaning clues from it. I was a good audience for LANTERNS. I needed to watch all 8 episodes before rendering my verdict, because this has to be a matter of story and character. I have done so, without prejudice or malice. And here it is: You failed. It shouldn’t have been hard to drag these characters through the hell you put them through and have them come out better for it by episode eight, but instead you tarnished and destroyed them. All of them. Even the Manhunters are reduced by this show. John is a selfish, villanous asshole. Kerry is a monstrously stupid and cowardly murderer, the Guardians are either weird schemers or absent entirely, Guy is a pussy and Hal…why did you need to murder him in such a hollow and meaningless, deeply depressing and sick way? There is something deeply wrong with your entire writing room. I cannot believe James Gunn of GOTG fame could allow this sick nightmare to coexist with his typically fun superhero films. All of you should be ashamed for this profound failure. People told me you hated Hal Jordan. I thought that was a stupid notion…but I think they were actually correct. That mental illness led you to destroy the terrific John Stewart, too. In trying to demote Hal, you killed John’s decency, loyalty and his soul. I’m so sad about this result. Ask anyone. I loved watching the show and believed you stick the landing. Hal’s father stuck his landing better. God have mercy on your souls. 1/10 stars. Pure evil, but Kyle Chandler was a revelation. Bless him.
