JUST IN: United Launch Alliance plans to return its Vulcan rocket to flight on November 13, ending a nine-month launch pause following a solid rocket booster malfunction during a U.S. Space Force mission.
The BoeingβLockheed Martin joint venture will launch 40 Amazon Leo broadband satellites using a redesigned booster nozzle intended to address the February anomaly.
Although the earlier mission successfully reached orbit, the malfunction grounded Vulcan and delayed several critical Pentagon launches.
The Space Force has since reassigned four missions to SpaceX, including a next-generation missile-warning satellite, while assessing when Vulcan can resume national-security launches.
The November flight, pending range approval, will provide crucial performance data as ULA works to restore its position as a military launch provider.
