Your attempted administrative action is a violation of international law, the U.S. Constitution, and common decency, and as such I have fined The United Kingdom Office Of Communications (Ofcom) $50,000. 1.1 Details of fine: This fine is due on or before December 24, 2026, and can be payed in BTC, USD, or gold ingots. Please note I will NOT accept British Pound Sterling, Euros, beans on toast, or hookers and blow. Note: I no longer accept British celebrity autographs as payment since Dame Patricia Routledge has passed away, making any alleged autographs from her difficult to personally authenticate 1.2 Failure to pay: Failure to pay this fine on or before the due date with appropriate tender WILL result in fines not less than 1% of 1% (ร—0.0001) per day, and not to exceed $150,000 (i.e. $200,000 cumulative fine and penalties). THIS JUDGMENT IS LEGALLY BINDING.
We've fined 4chan ยฃ450,000 for not having age checks in place to prevent children seeing porn on its site. The Online Safety Act is concerned with protecting people in the UK. It doesn't require platforms to restrict what people in other countries see. ๐Ÿ”—ofcom.org.uk/online-safety/iโ€ฆ
Community note
Ofcom has sent multiple fines to 4chan, but 4chan has not paid any of them. Their lawyer claims they only operate in the US and their conduct is expressly protected by the First Amendment. In addition, most of the nearly ยฃ3m in fines which Ofcom has sent have not been paid. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/

Actually, both billionaires and immigrants are good for economy. Anti-billionaire and anti-immigration beliefs tend to result from the mistaken view that thereโ€™s a fixed sum of wealth.
You're not struggling because immigrants took your job. You're struggling because billionaires took your wages.

PSA The Friend/Enemy as formulated by Carl Schmitt is not just an โ€œobservationโ€ of the political order. It comes with metaphysical baggage. That baggage removes sovereignty of The Creator as sovereign over existence and the moral and political orders within the political sphere. Once this deracination occurs it inherently becomes a form of constructivism. You can call it either Existential Constructivism or perhaps more accurately Radical Decisionist Constructivism. This is how they can accuse people who donโ€™t believe in the Friend/Enemy distinction as also unwittingly participating in the Friend/Enemy distinction. We non-believers are also โ€œsovereignโ€ we just donโ€™t realize thatโ€™s how reality works. Given that the โ€œsovereignโ€ (Man-centric) is, well sovereign, it naturally introduces a form of circular regression. Behold: The Sovereign is empowered to decide because he unifies the People against the Enemy, but the Enemy only threatens the People because the Sovereign declared them an existential threat, which unifies the People into a collective that empowers the Sovereign to decide who the Enemy is, an Enemy whose threat is necessary to keep the People unified so they continue to recognize the Sovereign, who uses that recognition to name the next Enemy that justifies the unity of the People who grant him the power to decide. It is complete Flat Earth, postmodern style inanity. You donโ€™t have to entertain Schmittian post-liberals on their contrived terms. Neither you nor they are โ€œsovereignโ€ over existence nor the moral and political orders to any reasonable degree.

Mathematicians have talked about infinite chess boards, and there's 3-player and 4-player varieties, and 3D chess. Then Joel David Hamkins wrote yesterday about the set of rules where victory is achieve not just at king capture in one move, but king capture in arbitrary n moves. So here are some other mathematically interesting chess variants for your consideration: Continuous-move chess: where we can take non-integer turns. Continuous-board chess: where the coordinates are non-integer. Continuity chess: both the board and turns are non-integer Unnatural chess: what would it mean to allow negative moves through time? Fractal chess: where each square is itself a whole miniature board. Hyperchess: why stop at 3 dimensions of play area? Everett chess: each move splits the board into multiple copies and players may or may not make the same move in each. Naiver-Stokes chess: where the rules are so complex that only a computer can solve it. Who's got more ideas?

A delightful article from mathematician Joel Hamkins! Written with clarity, depth, and a subtle whimsy. It inspired me to finally become a paid subscriber to his Substack. In a way, his writing reminds me of Damon Runyon (viewed at a certain level of abstraction) in that it juxtaposes formality with delight.

I disavow James Lindsay. He has really done it this time. He has committed a career-ending faux pas and I can't believe I didn't see how absurd he is sooner. He is merely fighting for relevance and trying to ingratiate himself with everyone by constantly calling them out on their bullshit. He will never recover from this. His made-up term (neither grown from the term-tree nor certified by the Term Certification Board (TCB)) "woke right" has been completely forgotten and I'd like to remind you that some people used to say it years ago, hah, haven't heard that term in forever! Have you seen his sword videos? Once I saw those I knew it was just a matter of time until I would be forced to denounce him as cringe, because I am 9 years old and that's how the world works when you are 9 years old. It makes perfect sense to me that everyone who doesn't like James Lindsay has to commit time and energy to pointing out how irrelevant he is on what is more or less a quarterly basis. This reminding is critical to making sure that millions and millions of people keep the relevance of James Lindsay's irrelevance at top of mind, that they never forget how forgettable he is. Please do not forget, do not ever forget, that you should forget James Lindsay. Please always be aware of how unaware of him you should be.
Do you disavow James Lindsay?
