Spam texts are harder to stop completely, because the Do Not Call Registry doesn't do much against them and scammers ignore it anyway. These things make a real difference, though: Forward each spam text to 7726 (it spells "SPAM"). Your carrier uses those reports to block the senders. Your number looks like it's on Verizon, which supports this. Turn on your phone's built-in filter. On an iPhone, go to Settings, then Apps, then Messages, and turn on "Filter Unknown Senders." On Android, open Google Messages, go to Settings, then Spam protection, and turn it on. Don't reply to these texts at all, not even with STOP, and don't tap their links. Any reply tells them your number is live. STOP is only safe for real companies you've actually done business with. Report the bad ones at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. That helps enforcement, though it won't cut down your own texts right away. Forwarding to 7726 and turning on the filter will cut down most of what you're getting. Some will still slip through.

Marc Andreessen reveals why housing, health care, and education keep getting more expensive while everything else gets cheaper "There's basically three components to the American dream. A house near great job opportunities, great health care for you and your family, and sending your kids to good schools" "If you disaggregate the economy over the last 25 years, everything that technology touches basically collapses in price. Television sets, computer games, anything with electronics in it. But if you chart housing, education, and health care, the prices of those things are skyrocketing" "The government restricts supply, zoning laws and university certifications. And then the government responds to the political pressure caused by the rising prices by subsidizing demand. And of course, if you subsidize demand and a fixed supply, you get skyrocketing prices"

Palmer Luckey reveals Oculus repeatedly found wiretap electronics hidden inside product samples from Chinese factories, and says they would listen in and transmit voice samples over cellular radio “Here’s another example. How many computers exist in the Japanese government, critical utilities, infrastructure and the military? Millions, at least millions of computers. “So then the question becomes: how many of them are compromised by Chinese intelligence operations placing listening devices or false components in them? Some people would say zero, and I think they’re crazy. “I actually have personal experience with China placing listening devices into sample products that I would receive from Chinese factories. This was at my previous company, Oculus VR. My first company was a virtual-reality company I started when I was 19 years old. “There were multiple times when we discovered actual wiretap electronics in product samples that were given to us. They would listen to us and transmit the voice samples over a cellular radio. “If I experienced them trying to steal our technology and our decisions even as a small company, surely they’re targeting every government, every military, and every company.”
Palmer Luckey tries on Meta's new VR Glasses in a demo and says "wow" "What's the weight on this." [100 grams] "These optics are doing a great job of projecting ambient reflections." "Wow, wow, that's way out there. Look at that." "Whoa, whoa, whoa. This supports DisplayPort over USB-C? There's a lot of people who have been asking for that for a very long time." "Wow."

Parkinson’s Law – Why the State Bureaucracy Grows When the Work Shrinks In 1955, a British naval historian wrote a joke for The Economist. Seventy years later, it remains one of the most accurate descriptions of the modern state ever written. Everyone knows the slogan: work expands to fill the time available. Almost no one knows the mechanism underneath it. That mechanism explains Europe. 1. The evidence. Between 1914 and 1928, the Royal Navy lost two thirds of its largest warships. Over the same years the Admiralty – the office that ran the ships – grew by three quarters. There were fewer ships and more men behind desks. Then there was the Colonial Office, which kept growing while the colonies left one by one. It was hiring while the empire was shrinking. 2. The first mechanism. An official who feels overworked has three choices. He can resign, he can share the work with a colleague, or he can ask for two subordinates. He never chooses the colleague, because a colleague is a rival. Two subordinates are a rank. So one tired man becomes three. Then each of the two subordinates feels tired. 3. The second mechanism. Seven people now do what one did, and they keep each other busy with drafts, approvals, and comments on the approvals. Everyone works hard, and nothing is produced. You have been in this meeting. You have been copied on this email. You have watched three people sign the form that one person filled in. 4. The law of triviality. Parkinson noticed that a committee will approve a nuclear reactor in minutes, because nobody understands it. The same committee will debate the bicycle shed for an hour, because everybody does. Bureaucracy does not avoid the important question by accident. It avoids it by design – the small question carries no risk, and on the big one, someone’s name goes on the decision. 5. The ratchet. A business that fails closes. A department that fails gets a bigger budget, because the problem is now bigger. Failure is the bureaucracy’s best argument for itself. This is why the state never shrinks on its own: every problem it does not solve becomes a new office for solving it. 6. The civilizational lesson. Burnham described the managers taking over. Parkinson showed how they breed. Put the two together and you get Brussels. You get France, where the state spends more than half of everything the country produces and still cannot fix a hospital. This is not because the people inside are wicked. It is because the machine works exactly as Parkinson said it would. 7. The vindication. Parkinson was dismissed as a humorist. Then Milei cut Argentina’s ministries in half – and the country did not collapse. It barely noticed, except on the bill. The lesson is simple: you cannot reform a bureaucracy by asking it what to cut. It will always propose to cut the ships – and hire someone to manage the cut.

HYPOTHETICALLY… IF I BOUGHT MY HOUSE FOR $125,000 IN 2002 AND THE COUNTY NOW SAYS IT’S WORTH $487,000, WHERE DID I ACTUALLY MAKE $362,000? Did I sell it? No. Did I receive $362,000? No. Did somebody hand me a check for the new assessed value? Obviously not. But my property taxes still go up because, on paper, my house is suddenly worth hundreds of thousands more. That’s the part that doesn’t make sense to me. This isn’t income. It isn’t cash sitting in my bank account. It’s a number someone assigned to my property, and now I’m being billed based on that number. If my stock portfolio doubles but I don’t sell, I haven’t turned that gain into cash. If my salary stays the same, I don’t suddenly owe more income tax because someone thinks I’m worth more. So why does owning a home work differently? WHY AM I PAYING TAX ON A GAIN I NEVER REALIZED? A house isn’t just an investment. It’s where people live. You can pay off the mortgage, own the property outright, and still face a bigger bill every year because the value of the house went up on paper. At some point, you have to ask what “owning” something actually means if the cost of keeping it can keep rising because of money you never received. THIS ISN’T ABOUT WHETHER THE HOUSE IS “WORTH” MORE. IT’S ABOUT BEING CHARGED FOR VALUE YOU NEVER TURNED INTO CASH. And people are starting to notice.

Carnivore is here to stay! Reason-people put their diseases into remission frequently by doing it It doesn’t mean everyone will stay on it for life, in fact most won’t and will often settle in to a “mostly carnivore diet” As I walk around my new home in St Petersburg Florida, I am stopped on the street almost everyday by people thanking me for introducing them to carnivore Almost all of them report massive improvements in their health and that it was the tool that jumpstarted their recovery to a healthier life. Most of them tell me that they no longer eat a purely strict carnivore diet but rather eat mostly meat, a few are still hardcore and also doing fine. We don’t have any high quality long term studies on a carnivore diet, but that also holds true for all diets if we are being honest. We have better data on what long term disease does to our outcomes If we stay diabetic we die earlier, if we stay depressed we die earlier, if we have inflammatory bowel disease we die earlier- this is true of most diseases and so if you have a way of remitting those diseases, your outcomes are likely to be better. For many, many people carnivore is the tool that gets them there!
