We've been harvesting most of the rest of the tomatoes and prepping one of the taller boxes for carrots. We'll need a couple more bags of dirt to make the soil deep enough for a good crop. September and February are some of the best times to plant carrots in this area.

The 2006 Santa Cruz County Fair runs Sept. 16-20.
Enjoy music, horse show events, livestock auctions, photography and craft exhibits, floral displays, and local farmers showing off their produce. and free-roaming entertainers may surprise you. Drone shows are Fri-Sun nights. Hungry? The hardest part will be deciding whether to start with savory bbq or go right for dessert.

The small town of Gander in the Canadian province of Newfoundland saw its population virtually double when U.S. airspace was closed on 9/11, grounding 38 international flights on an island in the Atlantic Ocean.
For five days, Newfoundlanders gave shelter and comfort to 7,000 stranded passengers and crew members. @conorknighton talks with Newfoundlanders who volunteered during the emergency, whose generosity to the "plane people" inspired the Broadway musical @wecomefromaway.

Public life is so different. We all imagine the good parts, but when you have to deal with personal and family stuff in front of everyone, it's probably such a different vibe.
I guess that's why most First Ladies find some other project to focus on while their spouse is serving....gardening with kids, beautifying roads and parks, literacy, mental health. They need to remember who they are and bring something important to the table(?)

I saw a fairly new medical device for blood draws. I have been known to have 3 and 4 phlebotomists crowded around me plus an MD of some sort giving advice to them. If the device can guarantee to get a vein and good flow on the first try, maybe. Otherwise, don't walk away and leave me with that thing.😪

Did you heard Robert Frank from @CNBC say that a whole new generation of car collectors has been doing business at Car Week in Monterey? With prices in the 6-8 figure range not being uncommon, it's encouraging news for anyone who's been worried about Gen Z being broke and living in Mom's basement.
