Health workers for decent work. We fight for: ➡️ Paid sick days ➡️ Fair wages ➡️ Safe workplaces ➡️ No one left behind. Join us. #PaidSickDaysSaveLives

⚠️ Are federal paid sick days under attack? ⚠️ Mark Carney quietly launched a new “review” of the Canada Labour Code protections for paid sick days for federal workers. There is a risk that the government will restrict or even cut the allotted sick days due to employer pressure.

“Instead of cutting access to paid sick days, or insisting on costly, unnecessary doctors’ notes for short-term absences, doctors say 10 paid sick days should be implemented in every province & territory.” #PaidSickDays #DecentWork #ClimateCrisis #Canada

If there's a long coffee line never pull staff to open a premium line for those paying an extra $100. Few can afford it. Staff migrate to the premium line - and the common line is longer. Same in healthcare. One line. Add employees. Queue-jumping isn't queue-shortening.

While the World Cup is now over, the issues it raised for workers remain. We recently shared some criticism of FIFA and the City of Toronto and got some feedback. Our focus was never about individuals who choose to volunteer, but about calling out exploitation, because workers deserve better. Until our governments take action, companies will continue to misclassify workers to boost their profits.

Without protection and paid sick days, workers can't afford to risk their pay or employment by refusing to work. "I need money more than anything else," said one worker. #PaidSickDaysSaveLives #Justice4Workers #ONPoli #CdnPoli

#StopWageTheft means closing the gaps in the law that allow wage theft to happen. Ontario’s outdated labour laws are failing workers. Employers use subcontracting, misclassification, and other tactics to avoid their responsibilities for employees' health, safety, and wages. 👉 Our response: the government must act to ensure that companies at the top are held responsible, employers cannot misclassify employees as independent contractors, and employers cannot use complex arrangements (i.e., shell companies and temporary agencies) to evade the law. 🔗 Stand with workers today and send a letter to the Minister of Labour now: WorkersActionCentre.org/stop… #CloseTheLoopholes #DecentWork #WorkersRights #Ontario

Personal Support Workers deserve respect, not a system that denies them basic rights. Today, PSWs, allies, and union members rallied outside Doug Ford’s office to demand justice, accountability, and fair treatment for the workers who care for our communities every single day. PSWs deserve due process, representation, and the same protections afforded to other regulated health professionals. We will continue to fight back against a system that leaves workers without a voice. Respect PSWs. Fix HSCPOA. ✊🏽

The Ford government says it is addressing capacity pressures inside hospitals, even as a new report finds a sharp spike in ER wait times is putting patients at risk. The majority of hospitals are also forecasting budget deficits. We ask the health minister about the findings:

SHAME: "Last year, the Min. of Labour, @ONTatwork, found a restaurant owed 13 former employees nearly $115,000 in wages, plus $133,000 in damages—around $250,000 in total. My share came to [about $30K]. ... But it quickly became clear: getting an order to pay is one thing; actually getting paid is another." #StopWageTheft #WageTheft torontolife.com/memoir/overw…

Equal Pay Day is April 14! 👇Here are 3 actions the Ford Government could take today to close the pay gap. It's 2026 but the gender pay gap in Canada means women still make 68 cents on average for every dollar earned by white men according to the @EqualPayON. Racism widens the gap. Racialized women get only 62 cents for every dollar, while Black and Indigenous women earn just 58 cents. It's time for change!
