Last night's dinner 🥘
Good food, great conversation with people living lives I can't afford to (yet!).
Just imagine this room:
A media brand builder: He built an entire brand around food, shooting preparation, with ~700,000 Instagram followers.
A solar technology innovator: His client list includes actor Aajit Kumar – talk about a flex!
A finance content creator. Coaches hundreds, with over 200,000 Instagram followers.
A healthy restaurant owner: Running a spot focused on nutritious food.
A multi-talented professional: Studied psychology, works as a therapist, and is also a guitarist.
A viral content creator: Hit 300,000 views on his very first YouTube video, with 70,000 Instagram followers.
A LinkedIn influencer & agency owner: 25,000 LinkedIn followers, hosted dozens of podcasts, and runs multiple agencies.
An agriculture & D2C gifting entrepreneur: Involved in both farming and direct-to-consumer gifting businesses.
And there I was, listening to all these incredible people talk about their lives, their ideas, and what they've learned.
We also delved into problem statements affecting our country, state, and city. You wouldn't believe the kind of innovative ideas that emerged.
Let me give you a small tip.
We were discussing how to solve traffic issues. Someone initially suggested it was due to a lack of civic sense. My friend Niraj mentioned it's a civic sense issue, but argued that it's not that we lack it, but that we weren't taught it.
Is it the school's responsibility? Someone else countered: maybe it's the parents'.
Then, Jensita (the woman in the pink sari) proposed an idea:
What if we tackle this at the hospital? When a mother is pregnant, we could offer a small program. If they complete it and become aware of what civic sense is, they can pass it on.
The moment someone is carrying a child, they become far more responsible than any other citizen. Perhaps we could teach them right there at the hospital and even reward them with a small percentage discount on their hospital bill.
What an idea!
I don't know if this is applicable or if it needs tweaking, but it's an idea I don't think would have arisen unless we had a room like this – everyone living such different types of lives. It's amazing that I get to host these kinds of dinners in Chennai.
If you're someone doing something impactful, whatever your field, and you want to be part of this dinner, just leave a comment on this post.
I'll take a look at your profile, see what you're doing, and if I find it interesting, I'll connect with you and invite you.
Thanks.
