Cooperation between the UN and the AU is important to address the challenges that the continent is facing.
From combatting terrorism to ending armed conflict, ensuring inclusive peace mediation and protection of civilians, joint UN and AU action is needed.
The pleasure is all mine, Commissioner @Bankole_Adeoye 🤝 great to exchange views on current affairs and discuss next steps in our strategic partnership.
🇩🇰 is a longstanding partner of @AUC_PAPS - and we’re proud to be the biggest bilateral partner within the JFA 🕊️
Always a pleasure to exchange views with Amb. Sune Krogstrup, @Denmark_Addis🇩🇰. Our strategic meeting focused on shared peace and security priorities and practical avenues for deepening cooperation. I expressed on behalf of #PAPS our appreciation to Denmark for its longstanding and valued support. The engagement reaffirmed our shared commitment to African-led solutions, effective multilateralism and sustainable peace across the continent.

FM @larsloekke “Denmark is deeply concerned by developments in North #Ethiopia. We call for de-escalation, humanitarian access and dialogue. We call on neighbouring countries to refrain from further escalation. The Pretoria Agreement and AU-led mediation remain the path to peace”

The conflict escalation in Yemen is worsening an already dire humanitarian situation, and civilians are now fleeing to East Africa. Denmark provides DKK 25.7 mil. through UNHCR and the UN Central Emergency Response Fund to address the refugee crisis in the region.
DK voted in favour of a short technical rollover of the 1591 Sudan sanctions regime, while negotiations continue among Council members.
The regime must be strengthened to protect civilians, ensure hum. access, curb arms flows & promote accountability for violations of int. law.
Members of the Coalition for Atrocity Prevention and Justice in Sudan condemn the attack on a @WFP_Sudan humanitarian convoy in Sudan.
These targeted strikes prevent civilians from accessing life-saving aid and directly contribute to civilian harm. #IHL must be respected by all
Denmark welcomes the progress made by the @AUPeaceFund BoT, including on the new 🇩🇰 supported ODA-eligible financial window. Denmark remains committed to supporting AU-led solutions in peace and security.

Today 🇩🇰 hosted a #UNSC open debate on resolution 2417 on conflict & hunger. In 2018, 74M people faced crisis food insecurity. Today it's 147M.
Food is under fire: crops burned, markets attacked, aid denied. Res 2417 gives us the tools to act. Now we need to use them.
FM @larsloekke: “Far too many people face hunger driven by conflict. Not drought, not disaster - but conflict. In 2026, famine is not a failure of harvests. It's a failure of politics. Today Denmark brings the UNSC together to call for action & end starvation as a weapon of war.”
#Sudan cannot become a war the world learns to live with.
At today’s #UNSC briefing, Minister @larsloekke called on parties to put protection of civilians first.
An urgent ceasefire and an inclusive political process are essential.
We must act to end suffering.
