Oxfordshire, U.K.
In 1973 I began helping people harmed in extremist authoritarian sects. OTD in 1984, I founded the DialogCentre UK to give a clear identity and more structure to my work. Forty-one years later, the purpose is unchanged: Recovery and Growth after Spiritual Abuse.

And now the council has voted 3-2 to disregard the Save the Garden petition and its 7,500 signatures, preserving the street vacation for #Scientology. Same three voted for it: Allbritton, Cotton, and Mannino. So much for citizen action in Clearwater.

"Could it be his empathy for child sex abusers was actually empathy for himself?" Not the 1st time it's been asked about seniors in power structures. It could be an interesting direction for research/investigation. It might explain a lot, IF done carefully & wisely.
I've often wondered why some pastors are so determined to extend grace to child sex offenders — especially when it puts children in their congregation at risk. In the case of South Carolina minister Tracy Black, one possible answer is becoming clearer. Black defended his decision to allow a registered sex offender to attend outdoor church services and dismissed concerns about child safety. Now Black is facing charges for alleged child sex abuse and possession of child sex abuse material. Could it be his empathy for child sex abusers was actually empathy for himself? roysreport.com/south-carolin…

After yesterday’s post about the Russell Brand trial, my inbox was flooded with people claiming this is all just a coordinated media conspiracy. Well, I hope those same people actually read what came out of Southwark Crown Court today, because Brand took the witness stand and completely shredded his own defense. Under cross-examination, he openly admitted to "inconsistencies" in his evidence, awkwardly asking the prosecution for forgiveness. Even more damning, his own barrister asked him if a single friend or colleague from twenty-five years in showbusiness was willing to stand up in that courtroom and speak for his character. His answer was no. Not a single person would touch him with a barge pole. Think about what that actually means. Decades surrounded by entourages, agents, and industry friends, and not one human being is willing to take an oath on his behalf. Then look at how he described women to the jury today. He admitted saving a complainant’s name in his phone labeled with a degrading slur and a sexual act. When asked if a woman expressed reluctance to an encounter, he casually dismissed her hesitation as "coquettishness and coyness." This is not a misunderstood free-thinker being silenced for his politics. This is an arrogant narcissist who used celebrity status to treat women like disposable commodities, and is now watching his carefully rehearsed narrative crumble under basic legal scrutiny. Stop falling for the staged internet guru act. The admissions coming out of his own mouth in that courtroom tell you everything you need to know.

My last post on the Russell Brand trial reached nearly a million people, and my replies were immediately flooded with defenders insisting this was all just a coordinated establishment hit job. Well, week three just concluded at Southwark Crown Court, and the reality has gotten so much worse for anyone trying to defend him. For the last three years, Brand hid behind a podcast microphone, carefully rebranding himself as a humble, persecuted spiritual outsider. He even got baptized right after the criminal allegations broke to complete the transformation. Then he actually had to take the witness stand under oath, and the entire manufactured persona collapsed in real time. When questioned by his own barrister, Brand put on a loud theatrical performance, throwing around words like "badinage" and "loquacious" to charm the jury. But the moment the prosecution stood up to cross-examine him, the swagger completely evaporated into long, excruciating spells of dead silence. The prosecution didn't even need outside witnesses to tear him apart. They simply opened his own 2007 memoir and read his own confessions back to his face. Jurors had to sit there while the court read passages where Brand explicitly wrote that when he wanted a woman, he would "resolutely remove anything that’s in the way, until I possess the object of my desire." They read his own captions bragging about pretending to be effeminate specifically so women would lower their guard and let him into their hotel rooms. Think about that for ten seconds. He put the playbook in writing himself. As the prosecution pointed out in their closing speech, the jury isn't dealing with a media conspiracy. They are looking at six separate women spanning a ten-year timeline between 1999 and 2009. They didn't know each other. They have no personal or financial benefit to gain, and endless online abuse to endure, by having to sit in a criminal court to describe being assaulted. You can build an army of online defenders and hide behind sudden spiritual conversions all you want. But when your own published books describe treating women as objects to be possessed at any cost, the enlightened guru act is completely finished.

“I am no longer part of [Kathryn Krick] 5F Church…” That’s what one viewer told us after watching the Roys Report’s “Prophet” & Apostle docuseries. Another viewer wrote that after four years in the church, watching the series left them “disgusted and horrified.” These are real people wrestling with what they’ve learned. And their responses show why Christian journalism matters. When people raise allegations of abuse, they deserve to be heard. When leaders misuse their power, they must be held accountable. With just two days left in October, we’re $13,000 short of our monthly fundraising goal. Will you help us keep reporting stories the church needs to hear? Help us keep reporting. [Link in comments]

"To boldly go..." R.I.P. Sir Patrick
In 1952, an English teacher named Cecil Dormand secretly paid for a dirt-poor 11-year-old to take a drama course. He never told him and the boy didn’t find out until decades later. By then, he was a knight, that little boy’s name was Patrick Stewart. He was born into a poor family in Mirfield, a small mill town in Yorkshire and his father came home from World War II a violent man, and he was violent toward Patrick’s mother. Young Patrick learned exactly when to step between his father’s fist and his mother. An English teacher put a copy of Shakespeare in his hand and told him to get up and perform. He never stopped and left school at 15. By 19 he was completely bald... most agencies told him he'd never make it because of that. In 1987, the LA Times called him an “unknown British Shakespearean actor” when he was cast as Captain Picard. Then he became one of the most famous faces on Earth. You’ve probably heard that part. Here’s the part you haven’t: He spent decades as a patron of Refuge, sheltering women and children from domestic violence. But he never stopped trying to understand his father. He dug up a 1940 newspaper clipping that said his dad had come home with severe shell shock. He went to France and walked the ground where his father’s unit was pinned down under bombing for hours. He learned his father had PTSD, and nobody ever helped him. So Patrick became an ambassador for Combat Stress, a charity that helps veterans. In 2013, a young woman at a Texas convention told him she was a survivor of domestic violence. He asked, “My dear, are you okay?” Then he hopped off the stage, held her, and told her: “You never have to go through that again, you’re safe now.” At Dragon Con, a Make-A-Wish girl dressed as Spock came to meet him. 2,000 people were waiting for him to speak... he sat down and talked with her for 15 minutes, making all of them wait. He told her that since they were friends now, whenever she saw him on screen she could wave and say, “Hello Patrick.” After 9/11, he felt helpless, so he brought his one-man A Christmas Carol back to Broadway for a full week of charity shows. He played every character himself and donated every cent. In 2019 he did it again, and every dollar went to feeding hungry New Yorkers. In 2017, he fostered a pit bull named Ginger, who had been rescued from a dogfighting ring. She was his first dog in more than 50 years. He couldn’t bring her home to England, so he found her a family. Then he kept fostering more. When he said he was done with Star Trek so many people told him the show had gotten them through the hardest times of their lives. So he wanted to see if Picard could do it one more time. Rest in Peace, Sir Patrick 🖖

Nothing new here. This "celebrity's" threat to kill himself if identified reminds me of what some sex offenders, from 1-to-1 abusers to politicians and sect leaders, have said when their victims announced they intended to expose the abuse. Just more manipulation.
Come on Twitter. Do your stuff SOMEONE knows who it is…..

In this final episode of "Prophet" & Apostle, we reveal Kathryn Krick's stunning response to my question about why she didn't believe her close friends when they told her GeorDavie had sexually abused them. I was absolutely floored when I heard it, and I think you will be too. It reveals a level of denial and mind control even I wasn't prepared for. Despite Krick's denial of her friends and their testimonies, they still love her.  “You have mistaken loyalty to a man for loyalty to God," they tell her in this episode, while pleading with her to leave GeorDavie's "cult." I'm praying Krick has the ears to hear these friends' words of love and concern for her. roysreport.com/podcast/the-c…

When he’s gone it won’t be enough to have a new President. We need to examine the systems and failures that allowed Trump to get elected. Misinformation. Propaganda. Unlimited dark money. Media passivity. The electoral college. Corrupt federal judges. Everything. Or else there’d be no real reason for the world to ever trust the USA again.

This seems a useful starting point for discussing the future of human-AI relations. <youtu.be/KqiDqJMxg6o?is=NhcT…> I'd also like to see conversations about how predatory people are using/will use AI to create next-level extremist authoritarian sects. 1/2
