$GME CEO @ryancohen explains what he wants to do with eBay, and why he wants to buy it:
"Where we've had success at GameStop, and where eBay has had success, is in collectibles."
"The founder [@AnjneyMidha] was talking about his Montblanc pen. And that's a good example. That's a perfect item to go buy on eBay, but you're always concerned that it isn't going to be real."
"Using GameStop's 1,600 stores, we can immediately authenticate that item. The seller can ship it or we can ship it, but we've got 1,600 access points where we can do live authentication."
"So we can go deep in collectibles, leveraging our physical infrastructure. We can increase intake by bringing a lot more products onto the platform."
"And then there's a lot of other categories that I can grow. Look at live commerce as an example. eBay has 130 million users, and they're getting crushed by competitors in live commerce."

AMP founder @AnjneyMidha thinks GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen is onto something with his eBay bid.
He says that eBay's 10K filing showed it spent $2.4B on marketing to acquire a million users, or $2,400/ user, in FY2025.
"I don't think he's buying eBay because he thinks he's smarter than eBay's product team. I think he's buying eBay because he can see $2 billion of fat that Wall Street has been pricing as fixed costs. So he goes, 'Let me cut that, and the interest on the debt just pays for itself.'"
Anjey also says Cohen could use Gamestop's 1,600 retail locations to physically authenticate collectors' items, which eBay does big business in.
