Arsenal winning the Premier League resulted in a lot of praise for the club from neutrals in the title race last season.
This was partially due to the way the club is so embedded into the community. The announcement of 60 job cuts yesterday has shown that relationship to be hollow.
If assume a (generous) £50k a year salary to those who have lost their jobs then Arsenal will save £3m.
The average first team player earned £7.7m in 24/25, and likely to be much higher last season when bonuses for winning the title kick in. So the redundancies will fund one player's salary for 3 days a week.
The club will have earned about £198m in money from Premier League in 25/26 and £125m from UEFA for making the Champions League. Sponsors will have paid bonuses too for the Premier League title.
Overall revenue has increased by £319m between 2022 to 2025, and likely to go up by a further £50m or more in 25/26.
It's unknown how much the report from the consultants will have cost, but they tend to do these things for money, not love.
Not sure how much owner 'silent' Stan Kronke, the biggest private landowner in the US, knows or cares about those who have been made redundant, or whether he's aware of what happens at Arsenal. I'm not questioning his Gooner credentials but suspect he doesn't have a Steve Bould tattoo on his arm though.
Big own goal from the owners.
