Democracy is based on strong institutions and good checks and balances. We finish our mission in Yerevan with insightful meetings with constitutional experts, media representatives and academia discussing the role of the Church, security and democratic reforms. There is only one way to move closer to the EU and build a future together: freedom, justice and the rule of law and we are ready to work on this path together.

Fighting corruption, ensuring judicial independence, and strengthening institutions will be key to moving forward together on the path towards the EU. At the National Assembly of Armenia, a good conversation with President Rubinyan and representatives of EPP applicant party Civil Contract about Armenia’s pro-European path and closer ties with the EU. Their internal party election reflects a clear commitment to building a strong democracy. Strengthening the rule of law and advancing judicial reform will be equally important to moving forward on this path and delivering tangible improvements for the people of Armenia.

Armenia has steadily strengthened its engagement with Europe to become a strategic partner in the region and open a new chapter in its geopolitical positioning. Aprobamos una Resolución que exige a Sánchez aplicar inmediatamente el Pacto Europeo de Migración y Asilo, garantizar la seguridad y acelerar el retorno de adultos y menores. Con un mensaje nítido a Marruecos: la soberanía y la integridad territorial de España no se negocian. Se respetan. Incondicionalmente. Rabat debe asumir su responsabilidad y readmitir a todos los irregulares. Europa logra en 3 días lo que Sánchez no ha hecho en 50: escucha, ayuda y soluciones. Ceuta no está sola.
