EU Director for International Partnerships Erica Gerretsen says the EU has committed €20 billion to support Africa’s green energy transition between 2021 and 2027, with more than 100 clean energy projects already underway. Speaking at the African Green Industries Summit, Gerretsen said the Africa-EU energy initiative aims to deliver at least 50GW of renewable electricity capacity and expand access to energy for 100 million people by 2030.
