Piers Morgan SHUTS DOWN a Trans Woman’s Claim That Debates Over Women’s Sports Are About Eradicating Trans People
Trans Woman: I think there’s so much emphasis on trans people in sports because what you really want, underneath it all, is the eradication of trans people and for them not to be involved in any systems.
Piers Morgan: No! That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. Where have you got that from? What have I ever said that suggests that?
Trans Woman: I’ve seen things you’ve said in other interviews, Piers, with my friend Blossom and other trans individuals. I feel the emphasis being put on this issue—
Piers Morgan: What have I ever said that could remotely be construed as transphobic, trans-hating, or wanting to get rid of trans people? I challenge you right now. Tell me.
Trans Woman: I haven’t directed that specifically at you. I’m saying I feel the issue being pushed is part of a wider attempt
Piers Morgan: You just directed it at him! You literally just directed it at him.
Trans Woman: I think the issue being pushed about trans athletes is a way to eradicate trans people.
Another Guest: With respect, this is ridiculous. In the 1960s and ’70s, feminists established women’s shelters, rape crisis centres, hospital wards, and prison wings because sexual violence and harassment posed a threat to women.
We weren’t told that creating these spaces meant we were trying to eradicate men. Most men understood why these protections were necessary.
All we’re saying is that men have no place in women’s prisons, domestic violence shelters, or sports.
