I have a video going up imminently, but my thoughts:
Modern Halo has been an unmitigated fucking disaster for 15 years, even with the rebrand/restructured studio, the exact same problems of 343 persisted with Halo Studios, as evidenced by Campaign Evolved. It wasn't all bad, by any means, but Halo is in the gutter and has been for over a decade
I have a lot of very, very good friends at Halo Studios who I know for a fucking fact aren't just extremely talented, but have the right ideas for Halo that are often at odds with the direction the franchise has gone in, which is something they simply have no control over, and the fact that (once again) genuine talent like this is lost because of the braindead fucking stupid decisions out of their remit is infuriating
As for Activision (and likely Sledgehammer) making the next Halo game, at this point fuck it, why not? Sledgehammer have been the most beloved CoD developer in recent years so of all 3 CoD studios to be taking over Halo, I have the most faith in Sledgehammer if it does turn out to be them
I really hope this doesn't result in the Halo 7 can being kicked even further down the road, but I feel like it will. I doubt Sledgehammer's game is gonna be Halo 7, probably gonna be an "ODST 2" or something similar, hell maybe even an MP game
At the end the day, this has been coming for a long time. Frankly, I'm amazed it's taken this long for such a scorched earth move to be made with Halo, and I hate how many passionate and talented people who have the RIGHT IDEAS FOR HALO have to be caught in the crosshairs, but I think this is, unfortunately, a brutal, yet necessary step for the franchise to try and fix itself
Time will tell I guess, let's just hope this "New Dawn" doesn't end up in a total solar eclipse like the last one
