K9 Dundee died after apprehending a subject who fled on foot after a traffic stop on Eland Drive in North Fort Myers. When deputies approached a car that was parked facing the wrong way, five passengers ran from the vehicle. K9 Dundee and his handler successfully tracked one of the subjects into a wooded area. After apprehending the subject, K9 Dundee became unresponsive. Despite life-saving measures, K9 Dundee passed away. Deputies had been providing extra patrol in the area due to recent burglaries. After searching the car, deputies found marijuana, a BB gun, and a black ski mask. Five subjects were arrested and face charges ranging from possession of marijuana, child in violation of imposed conditions, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. K9 Dundee had served with the Lee County Sheriff's Office for over two years. He is credited with 174 deployments and 28 apprehensions. 🖤🙏💙🙏🖤
