Tower Hamlets has earned huge amounts of money from developers in s106 & CIL payments for developments around Canary Wharf The money is meant to be spent on infrastructure like the tunnel but the Council has internally borrowed it to spend elsewhere

This is just embarrassing. In 2019, Notre Dame burnt down. The damage was immense, costing nearly €700 million to fix. It took 5 years to reopen to the public. In the SAME WEEK, Hammersmith Bridge closed because of some structural damage. It didn’t burn down, and it didn’t collapse. Cars and buses were banned from using the bridge. Seven years later, it STILL has not reopened. We have spent £60 million since the closure, and we are nowhere close to opening it again. This is what happens when we forget how to build. Bridges close, and we are just meant to accept they will never open again. Potholes appear in the roads, and they never get fixed. Trains get delayed, and that’s just “how it is now”. We should never accept this. We are campaigning against it. Join us. What do you think?

Over 55K in unpaid parking fines in a year! How do they get away with this? If it was one of us the bailiffs would be knocking on our doors. Why haven't the vans been confiscated?

And now they’re in Greenwich ripping people off and taking business from established tax-paying shops. It’s just wrong. @Royal_Greenwich @MrJayDele

Just 32 of 361 PCNs have been paid! What is the point of the multi agency task force? @Royal_Greenwich @MrJayDele
Meanwhile, here in Greenwich we have diesel ice cream vans pumping out poison on our streets for hours! There’s a ban, tickets handed out, but when they make ££££ every hour, they can afford to pay up. They need to be removed! ! @Royal_Greenwich @MrOkereke

BIDs take eighteen months to two years to be established .They need a yes vote from businesses included in the BID boundary . Businesses need persuasion that their extra levy on top of their business rates will see a permanent improvement to services such as street cleaning. BIDs last five years, businesses will need proof of that promise. How do you prove a promise ?

What has happened to that Greenwich council bid to Govt for funds to renew all four lifts in both Greenwich and Woolwich foot tunnels. #GreenwichFootTunnel #WoolwichFootTunnel @Royal_Greenwich ? Any news?
A photography work assignment has taken me through the Woolwich foot tunnel. Good to see counter weights and cables ready for installation at the north lift. People who use this tunnel to get to work or Uni of east London will be relieved. #WoolwichFootTunnel #ActiveTravel

Councils do have powers, more than they realise. It’s taken our team 8 months of perseverance to finally get @Royal_Greenwich to resolve legal issues. And it was local resident (now Cllr Karin Tearle!) who kicked this off in 2025 by cleaning one out (with difficulty!). See before & after!

2. Telephone boxes Semi-abandoned telephone boxes attract anti-social behaviour. They are a blight. That’s why we need to: 📞 Give councils stronger powers to remove redundant boxes. 📞 Make it easier to repurpose historic red telephone boxes as community assets. 📞 Strengthen planning laws to ensure communications equipment remains properly maintained. Read Box Blight to find out more👇 createstreets.com/employees/…
