BIG PERSONAL NEWS: Jimmy V once said, “Don’t ever give up, Don’t ever give up” Yes, this photo is me at an @NCState game. I’m honored to announce that I’ve accepted a spring transfer offer to NC State to continue my education career at one of the best universities in the country.

Childhood memories I used to wait around for Hurricane Season and then watch TWC 24/7 growing up.
Just heard this absolute banger on The Weather Channel for the first time in forever 👌

People mad for me just calling it the gulf, people mad calling it the Gulf of Mexico, people mad for calling it the Gulf of America. This is the timeline we live in, I’ll call it the gulf & provide the forecast. The ocean doesn’t care what we will call it. It’ll still be there.

Well Mother Nature wants hurricane season to go out with a bang. Here are my latest thoughts, including impacts in NC. #ncwx ncwxauthority.com/post/tropi…

Invest #92L has become better defined this afternoon, and I wouldn't be surprised if we get advisories at 5PM from NHC. A low-level circulation appears to be developing, and we should be close to a Tropical Depression or Storm.

Invest #92L in the Southern Gulf continues to show some organization this afternoon; the National Hurricane Center now gives it a 100% chance of becoming a Tropical cyclone, and its next name is Isaias. Folks from NC will remember that name well. I’ll have more thoughts later.

Until we have a center of circulation with invest #92L, I urge caution in forecasts, as things could jump around depending on where the center develops.

One thing is for sure, whatever happens with the Gulf system, it’ll have ample coverage because meteorologists are bored lol

The progress in Lansing is real, and so is the spirit that has helped this community rebuild. We’ll continue to partner with Lansing and other communities across western North Carolina to help them recover and rebuild.

All eyes are on the Gulf this week; potential tropical development is possible later this week. Reconnaissance planes will start flying on Wednesday.

None of the models are doing well, but the newer ones are doing worse.
And to no one’s surprise, the RRFS has completely backed off and trended much drier today, with more scattered showers and thunderstorms and less widespread coverage.

I've been keeping an eye on the RRFS which is replacing the NAM here in a couple of weeks, & so far the long range in the RRFS is atrocious at least in North Carolina. We will give it another test this week, it has widespread rain Saturday afternoon across NC. The NAM has little

Good, nothing compares at all to the NAM with CAD events in NC.
The NAM gets another stay of execution. Retirement date pushed until November 3rd. Same for the SREF and HREF.

As a complete and total shocker, not surprised but the RRFS is trending much drier for Saturday now. More inline with the longer term NAM and HRRR. The RRFS is atrocious…

You can tell the Atlantic/gulf hurricane season has been a snooze fest when nearly every meteorologist on the Gulf/SE coastline is talking about how something might develop in the Gulf in 10 days lol

Peak fall foliage will be very hard to find in early October throughout Western NC. @ExploreFall estimates that just 1% of the High Country will peak before October 10. Hold off until later in the season for the best fall colors!

NC12 is NOW OPEN to northbound traffic on Pea Island! Please be patient and drive with extreme caution, as there is sand and water on the roadway, as well as a high volume of traffic waiting to exit Hatteras Island.
