🌍From #ESOC2026 to practice: stroke care is moving across the whole pathway: BP control, imaging, EVT selection, adjunctive therapies, cooling, mobility & recovery.
☝️Better outcomes will come from better systems, sharper selection, and evidence-based details
We are absolutely thrilled to share that the OCEANIC-STROKE trial has successfully met its primary efficacy & safety endpoints.
These landmark findings have the potential to prevent >1M strokes annually worldwide...

Congratulations to @AnaFightStroke and our brilliant colleagues and mentors from the @WorldStrokeOrg Future Stroke Leader Program on the groundbreaking article in @TheLancetAmer about stroke costs in Latin America! Honored to be part of this impactful research team.

.@SWahlster & I are grateful to authors from 11 countries doing the incredible work presented in this issue of Seminars in Neurology: Neurology in Underserved and Marginalized Populations thieme-connect.com/products/… @AltafSaadiMD @mendizabal_md
New Aha! with JAHA: @EvaRochaMD and Dr Adnan Qureshi compare patient transfer and physician transfer as strategies for accessing mechanical thrombectomy treatment for acute stroke. He also shares his advice for young neurology researchers. @mumedicine
Interpretation: one size does not fit all. Refer to the scientific statement algorithm. Prefer AC in high AIS risk groups but low🩸 risk & limit to 30 days (no more than 90 days) if doing so. AP in low risk groups or high🩸risk. Prefer DAPT > SAPT. ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/…
Such an important trial showing the efficacy of thrombectomy in an extended time window without the need for advanced neuroimaging in acute stroke. Important findings not only for Brazil but also for other Low and Middle income countries. Congratulations to all participants!
.@RaulNogueiraMD and @sheilambrasil present RESILIENT-Extend - initially noting two key ways the trial differs from many other thrombectomy studies: its setting in a middle-income country (Brazil), and imaging protocols used for treatment selection (NCCT/CTA)
