There's too much baggage, too many interests they have to satisfy. It has to be big, which means expensive, which means it must please everyone, which means it has to be generic and full of nostalgia. They need to bring back every character that hasn't died and maybe a few that did. Someone has to be related to a past character just so they can mention their name.
They're doomed beyond all comprehension.

Please, no. They'll bring back absolutely any character or robot that wasn't killed off and make any new character one of their relatives. Then they'll bring back whoever they did kill off. Because everyone wants more of the same.

Yes, I misspoke. It is only self-contradictory to think that you are not conscious, as it would be for me to think that I am not.

Not counting the men's room, there is no "male space" in most of our lives, and we self-ostracize there.
There are just times when we happen to be around other men, and if we have a certain set of values we don't select the company of those who don't share them.

This is the second time in two days I've seen someone post word salad along the lines that AI isn't not not not definitely conscious, followed by reposting with more word salad saying that the replies proved their point.
I wrote this because I was annoyed that lots of people who don’t have either a good enough definition of thinking or a deep understanding of AI model workings to make scientific claims about their conjunction nevertheless do. As to be expected, this trolled a lot of these people into coming out of the woodwork to make my point. I think the issue is less that most of them seriously aspire to contribute to this particular frontier of AI research or philosophy of mind, but that they are mostly normal people who are concerned about AI replacing people and don’t decouple these concerns from technical statements. I underestimated how many there would be, and how unbearably inane the discussion would get. It’s one of these points where I feel I should have avoided being clever and regret being on the platform.
