Avid video gamer since 1982. Chess fanatic since 1997. Obsessively love clean RGB upscaled or HDMI-modded consoles! Occasionally tinker with PCB design.

I want to get a native 1440p display and set up a game station cart now. They are pretty cheap even at 32 inches.

PSA: CRTs and other ewaste can no longer be exported from the USA due to a recent law, and even imports are being caught in the net. No more CRTs from Japan or elsewhere, do so at your own peril. IBM CRT from Buyee destroyed by customs. reuters.com/legal/governmentโ€ฆ

Tempest 2000 at 9x on the RT4K with the new 64BP. Google drive does some funky scaling, but you can zoom in manually to see how sharp it really is, or download the image to inspect in your paint program: drive.google.com/file/d/1mPXโ€ฆ

Zaxour's latest 64BP eliminates ALL remaining smeared video output. It makes dialing in optimal sampling a breeze now on the RT4K, and benefits CRT users as well with CRISP graphics. I installed it and posted my results here: patreon.com/firebrandx/postsโ€ฆ

I remember for decades, it seemed like emulation just could not get the interpolation right on this track for Super Metroid, so I said "screw it, I'll record it my damn self" ๐Ÿ˜† Raw direct SNES chip rendition: drive.google.com/file/d/1Wx2โ€ฆ

Starting to get some time back to work on projects again. My apologies to all. Becoming a full-time caregiver to a disabled parent is brutally hard. But there's something very cool coming out I can't wait to show when it arrives.

This is going to fix that last little bit of smear on the green channel (which seems to be the most affected). It's crazy to imagine a virtually flawless analogue video signal coming from the Jag after this!
While the 64BP can immensely improve the slew rate, hereโ€™s another work in progress: JAGDAC Creates perfectly sharp transitions by creating a lower impedance DAC. Only pain point is Iโ€™ll need to design a flex cable to interface to the pins on the original DAC ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

The Game Informer archive allowed me to retrieve issue #3, where they plagiarized my application concept when I applied to be a writer. They didn't even change the name I gave it! When I confronted them, they brushed me off with "anything submitted to us becomes our property". ๐Ÿคฌ

The past two months have been utterly devastating. My mother's stroke has caused SEVERE disability, and we're all just barely holding together. I'm seeing a psychiatrist once a month now so he can monitor and treat my depression. I'm trying getting outside for nature therapy. ๐Ÿ˜ข

Because FPGA is emulation. ๐Ÿคซ

โ€œOur console is an accurate FPGA-based system; itโ€™s not emulation.โ€ But when it canโ€™t interface with actual hardware (which is, by the way, one of the key differences between real hardware and emulation), the response is: โ€œWe do not offer support for third-party devices.โ€ Okay.

When people hear "it can't be done", they take it as a challenge. But the irony of the Neo Geo actually being one of the hardest consoles to develop Doom on is hilarious when you consider even old oscilloscopes can run it. youtu.be/onKTVMmy-sA

Bob and I worked out the concept of using Link with shield for video tests. His test of this same image on their hardware doesn't look like this at all. For those that want an actual image capture comparison, I've linked the time stamp in the video: youtu.be/5gUXzOh5E88?t=1518

CRT simulation is already looking great and will only get better with firmware updates.
