It’s my claim that 7 years of standing water on the building softened the roof & started to deteriorate the structure
Water coming in caused mold & other deadly contamination that I have proven in tests going back to 2023 two years after I initially alerted the landlord AND the city to the issues
The hair salon I bought there next to my smoke shop had been there for 30 years & now I owned a mold infested unit according to the stylists
I couldn’t get anyone to listen even after producing air quality tests
The back wall in both of my units was rotting on the inside & making me sick
The standing water on the roof was causing further issues & permeating through the building via the air ducts
I halted rents & hired an attorney in February 2023
The judge would not allow us to discuss the mold or the structural issues which I thought was very strange because that was the core problem and the reason I was putting money on file with the court instead of giving it to the landlord
Nobody seemed to care or understand that this had made me so sick that I had not been able to work in the building employees were having trouble working there and nobody would do anything about it including the city where I recorded my conversations with the city manager.
I sent emails to everybody in the state I could think of including the governor.
My claim is this was a preventable issue
No I don’t know if everybody’s in on it because the land would be worth a whole lot more money if this building was gone but there’s a lease held by
@AldiUSA that’s at least another 12 years and it might be as many as 15 I can’t remember but that’s one reason I moved to the plaza because I thought I would be safe from it being torn down and turned into a condominium complex which is where I think this whole scenario is currently headed
I just happen to be the one that knew that it was coming and tried to tell everybody
Nobody wanted to hear about it
There’s a lot of people that stand to profit if this can’t be fixed
100‘ x 40‘ is a very big hole and it took a long time for the roof to get that soft for that much of it to cave-in all at one time even in the middle of a remodel
