The co-founder of @FaZeApex pitched me his Y Combinator backed startup @TryNearbyCom. TryNearby connects local businesses with content creators to help them market and hit the local algorithm in their area. Over 100 restaurants and 1,000+ creators are on the platform!

This team doesn’t have “AI” anywhere in their pitch but has AI growth rates and would have 10x the headcount if they weren’t so AI-pilled.

Introducing TryNearby from @FaZeApex and his cracked crew. They've found a clever new way to fill up local restaurants, a $399/mo subscription that brings in great local social media influencers on autopilot. SMBs engaging with local influencers has become a crucial new b2b interaction for local economies. TryNearby is building THE product that takes all the pain and awkwardness from the interactions a la Airbnb with rentals and Uber with rides.

Most of the creator economy has been built around reaching people everywhere. Local businesses need something different: creators who live nearby, posting about places their viewers can actually walk into. Today we’re launching @TryNearbyCom as part of @ycombinator S26, live with 120+ paying restaurants across Southern California. We have spent the last 10 months doing restaurant visits with creators and sitting with hundreds of owners, learning what they actually need. That work grew us over 130% since the batch started with over 90% retention since November. Excited to continue to make local businesses discoverable online, and to turn millions of locals into creators for the businesses around them.

We recently wrapped up the first month of @ycombinator S26. Some updates: - We just surpassed 100 active subscriptions - We nearly doubled revenue since the batch kicked off, growing over 90% in ~5 weeks - We've grown 37% month over month with 92% customer retention since October Proud of the team & excited to share a video soon showing more about what we have been building 🙏

Have spent all of 2026 building something new post-FaZe. Excited to join @ycombinator this summer as I continue on this next chapter. Ten years ago I was 20, moving out of the FaZe House in New York to our new place in Newport Beach. This week I turned 30, and I’m feeling the same excitement here in SF that I felt in 2016. Good people who starve civilians, then “set up aid distribution centers” just to shoot kids who walked barefoot for 12km and waited all day for half a bowl of flour to feed their siblings who have been starving for months in their tents These devils have done all of the above and much more for 21 months, posting their crimes happily on social media while they barbecue and have full table feasts on the outskirts of Gaza smiling and doing Tik tok dances in between. How is it real that anyone with a conscience can support these people?
