He’s horrendous in build-up play. Only maximized in a Rosenior system where the attackers get to attack large distances to play forward.
Alonso will need to adopt a less general approach and create space for him otherwise he’ll kill every chance of ours to sustain control.

The problem is youve clearly never played football at a decent level. There is no space for a pass there and taking a shot was the correct decision. Stupidity like telling such players to square it and not take risk in final 1/3 is exactly ehat kills development.

I haven’t seen a player this reluctant to pass since Sturridge.
Before he gets his head down to shoot, Jackson had already made an easy run beyond his marker. One simple slip pass and Chelsea are in.
But the moment Estevao focuses on the shot, the opportunity is gone.
And this isn’t new.
He did something similar with Jackson last game, then again against Spurs and Sydney.
The frustrating part is that he clearly has the quality. He only seems to find the pass when João Pedro is playing striker.
Someone this talented should have more guile in those moments.
Is Estevao’s selfishness becoming a problem, or is this simply part of his development?
