Wanted to share some great news I received from my last blood draw regarding my prostate cancer: The lowest measurement for a PSA level is 0.02 and my level was BELOW that, meaning it is microscopic/undetectable. Woohoo! Winning! I will remain on my meds for 18 more months. 🤞🤞

I have been coaching little leaguers for over a year now and I am teaching George Brett’s hitting method — lead arm extension/top hand release. Brett became a Hall of Famer because Charley Lau taught him this. George wrote the forward for my first book: Lau’s Laws on Hitting.

Yes, a floor is mandatory just like in other sports. I have always advocated that. Cheap owners are not the problem. Massive local TV revenue is. The Dodgers get over $300 million more than the Royals with local TV revenue. That does not mean Mr. K, Glass and Sherman were “cheap”

With more competitive balance, like in the NFL, revenues go up. When the tide rises everyone’s boat goes up. With increased revenue, salary floor and salary cap levels must be guaranteed to rise each year in a new CBA agreement, like in the NFL. Average salaries will spike.

I just decided, even though I retired four years ago, I will go on a crusade to fix MLB’s $$ system, which is bullshit. Go ahead and echo the Union’s laughable mantra that parity exists in MLB when the truth is one small-market team in over 30 years, the Royals, has won it all.

Total bulls-eye, JD. I covered the strike in ‘94 and they were within three votes of fixing baseball forever. Imagine if the Royals had the same economic system as the NFL, where small markets like the Chiefs, Packers, Bengals, Steelers vie for the Super Bowl every year.

The pain is necessary to finally fix the game’s economics. If MLB does not fix the gap, small markets might as well start their own league. Be wary of some national scribes who are in the Players Union’s pockets and argue against a floor/ceiling cap. I am retired and have no bias

The Royals truly must sell their assets before the deadline and refocus on building toward the 27-28-29 seasons leading into 2030 and the new stadium. 2024 was nice but chasing that success is a fool’s gold. Start with seeing if Cruz is your closer of the future. Nothing to lose.

The biggest issue baseball fans want solved to strengthen the game is fixing the payroll disparity that leaves too many fans without hope of their team competing for a World Series title. Every other major U.S. sport has tackled this problem, and every year more small market teams in those leagues have a chance to win. The salary cap and floor proposal levels the playing field, allowing us greater flexibility to address longstanding player priorities while sharing baseball revenue with the players 50/50. Today, in addition to proposing the largest ever increase in the minimum salary, earned by over half of MLB players, we accepted two landmark changes to free agency that have been in place for 50 years. We agreed to both the MLBPA’s proposal to provide earlier access to free agency, and their proposal to eliminate the qualifying offer system, a provision players view as a drag on free agency. We also proposed to eliminate deferred compensation and to create a new “Cornerstone Player” provision similar to the NBA’s “Bird Rights” to give every team a fair shot at retaining their fans’ favorite star players. We will continue working with the MLBPA during the bargaining process to improve the game for teams, players and fans.
