Just posted this in discord. For those who prefer reading on X: I think it might be time for a thorough review of Bitcoin's history, especially in light of all the ecosystem changes of the past 15 years. I've spent a fair bit of time over this past year piecing together how we got from Satoshi to here - with a background in intellectual history, 25 years years in inside the Beltway politics and law, I figured out a whole bunch of stuff that would not have been observable to people living inside the Bitcoin ethos, especially the cypherpunks, and see a lot of how this got away from people, not in small part because of expert use of psy ups and narratives chosen specifically to bring Bitcoin down over enough time. If Blake2b is going to succeed, there is going to need to be a reckoning with the full history and a better grasp on where things went wrong and how they need to be made right. For example, screaming out words like permissionless is not helpful, and actively harmful at this point in time unless you understand the context in which it is now embedded. Don't be naive about how words are being used against meaning in Bitcoin. Intel ops especially will have had good training in how to do this.

Stop saying #bitcoin on #blake2b is an "experiment" and we will "learn" from it. This is the real #bitcoin. Look at the mechanics. The #sha256 @spamcoin forked away by ignoring a 20% supported UASF, with no URSF opposition. The #sha256 miners were fired. #bitcoin survives on #blake2b.

Bitcoiners were so drunk on the old tropes that they missed the rebirth and unknowingly left bitcoin on a spamfork with the promise of suitboy pumps. I always knew the ones who would ultimately make it would be a very small crowd, but even I was surprised at how very few made it.
