Dr Mofokeng did indeed indicate to the moderator, IOL deputy editor Lee Rondganger, that she would leave at 6pm as she had prior commitments, and this was accepted. However, this was unknown to the social media team covering the event, leading to the unfortunate caption that was published. IOL immediately removed the posts once the matter was clarified during a debriefing session. We apologize once more to Dr Mofokeng and the EFF.
